Funday in the city - New ?

We are heading down to LP zoo with our group of friends to have a funday in the city in a few weeks.  We want to hit up the zoo, stop for some sushi at Sushi Para Too and then maybe had over to Castaways to catch the NP fireworks.

Anyone have any other suggestions on fun stuff to do that day?  There will be 10 of us and 2 kids (3.5 yrs & 5 months).  We are pretty open and the main things we want to do are the zoo & sushi.  we just want to be tourists in our own city for the day

Actually, there is the Wrigleyville Summer Fest that weekend!

Anddddd it's also the air & water show.  Crap. Do you think LP Zoo will be a madhouse?

If you're not set on that sushi place, our favorite sushi place in the entire city is right next to LP - Sushi O Sushi!! It's amazing! If you go you must try their Armitage Roll!

We are, it's our favorite place and don't make it into the city as much as we would like to go.

I will definitely keep that place in mind though, thanks!

I just saved that restaurant since MH and I live in the city and love sushi!

I was going to mention the air & water show, but wasnt sure what weekend you were going.  yeah, LP will be packed, but should still be a good time.  you can easily walk to the lakefront from the zoo and get a great view...just be prepared for NO parking and busy crowds, and now you most definitely need to make a reservation! ;-)

I always forget what weekend they do it and just rely on seeing the practice runs from work to know when it's coming 

It looks like not everyone in our group wants to do sushi so DH & I are going for a sushi breakfast!  haha.  

And we're not driving that day.

I am SO glad I will be out of town that week!  I work night shift, and I HATE losing so much sleep because of the practice runs.  The very first year I moved here, I thought the city was being attacked or something b/c of the thunderbirds flying so low and shaking my entire building.  Too funny looking back on it.

Just an FYI-a lot of the zoo animals aren't viewable during the air and water show.  The noise bothers them or something and many of the animals are in their indoor space that the public can't access.

I am such a planner and i am so bummed I totally forgot about the air & water show.  I think we're going to be changing our plans.
