Ever been to Vegas?

Since I'm quite literally watching paint dry right now (my sick DH is sleeping so I'm trying to be quiet), I thought I'd see if any of you have ever been to Vegas and have any recommendations.

We're going next week for our first anniversary -yay!. I've been there once before (it's where we got engaged), but I know there's lots we probably haven't done still. So, any tips on things to go to, shows, restaurants, things to see?

Re: Ever been to Vegas?

  • We LOVE Vegas!  I've seen 4 of the Cirque shows--Mystere, O, Ka and Zumanity and would definitely say if you haven't done a Cirque show to do one.  We liked Mystere best but all of them are excellent.  Search before you go on smartervegas.com and through Google and you can generally get at least 25% off tickets (I've got them as much as 50% off).  We've also seen Blue Man Group out there and it was good too.

The light show on Fremont street was neat but I won't go back.  It is a slightly creepy area.

Definitley go check out the fountains and the conservatory at Bellagio.

I highly recommend eating lunch at Serendipity3 at Caesar's and having a nice dinner at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris.  Ask for a table on the patio so you can watch the fountain show.  The buffet at Bellagio was really good.  Don't waste your money on the buffet at Mirage.

Let me know if you have other questions.  I may be able to help.

  • Ooh thanks for that website and the recs. I have a lot to check out now! We actually got engaged at the Bellagio fountain show so I've seen that, but I'm sure we'll go back one night! I've read that Mon Ami Gabi is great too. I'm off to tour that website!

  • My parents live just outside Vegas and last time we were there they took us to the buffet at the M casino. Hands down, it was the best buffet I have ever been to and the price includes unlimited beer and wine. It is not on the strip but would be worth a quick cab ride..it is that good!

Also, if you want to go to the top of the stratosphere to get good views of everything, just tell them you have dinner reservations up there. Otherwise you have to pay to go up. ;)

Hoover Dam is only about 30 minutes away and is really cool to see if you've never been. There are also some other places to check out like red rock canyon as well.

I am not big into shows but my parents saw Beatles Love about a year and a half ago and still won't stop talking about it. There is also a new Elvis cirque show that is supposed to be good. My bff and her DH just went in June and saw Wayne Brady and enjoyed that as well. They ate at one of Bobby Flay's restaurants there and recommended it. HTH!
