PIP: thoughts on this birthday invite please

So my son's birthday is DAYS away and look who is just now throwing something together. Embarrassed We're only a family birthday so the invitation isn't important but I at least wanted to make one to go in his baby book.

I'm not sure about the "loves to just keep swimming part." I do want to incorporate that somehow since his party will be at a pool, but I don't know the right way TO incorporate it. KWIM? I'd also like to maybe maybe that part stand out a little bit more. Ideas?

Also, do you think it'd look too overwhelming with a picture of Nemo AND a picture of the birthday boy? I could just do Nemo and give people pictures of the birthday boy.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Anything?

Mom to an almost 4 y/o and an almost 2 y/o. In process of growing our family through adoption.

Re: PIP: thoughts on this birthday invite please

  • IMO I would keep it to just Nemo pic, I think an actual photo of the birthday boy will look silly. And I would have the wording read as follows:

"You Are O-Fish-Ally Invited to Make a Splash at Truman's 2nd Birthday!"

"Be ready for some fun in the sun with your swinsuit and toys for a day at the pool"

    -Insert Date/Time-

    -Insert Address-

    -Please RSVP by "Insert Date"

I really have no options for the "just keep swimming" part since I don't really care for that, hope this helps a bit!!!

That does help. You don't like the "just keep swimming" at all? One thing I just thought of was

    the birthday boy
    Truman

wants you to just keep swimming, just keep swimming.

     Better? :) Or nix it?

I like that. But I also love that part of the movie, so I think incorporating it is a cute tie-in, though I don't know that it's necessary.

I second having a pic from the movie but not of the birthday boy.

  • If it were me, I think I'd leave off the "loves to" and just put the "just keep swimming, just keep swimming" quote at the bottom, under the request to bring swimsuit and toys. It's cute for anyone who's seen the movie.

I like how you used the Nemo font to do his name!

  • I like it just as it is. Very clever!!
I would put one picture of the birthday boy holding something related to the movie like a Nemo or Dory doll.

I think its more important to have a pic of the party guest of honor on the actual invite.

agree!  I love invites for kids' parties w/ their pictures :)

  • I agree take out the swimming part. A picture of nemo would probably be better than a picture of the birthday boy.  I like the "o-fish-ally" (I'm a big fan of puns :))

I think it's kinda awkward to say 'bring your toys"...I'd leave it at Bring your swimsuit for a day in the pool."

side note you really shouldn't put your real address on any online forum...there are some crazies out there! I'd change that asap!

Maybe you can make it so that Nemo is saying "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!"

Ditto!  I'd much rather see a pic of the birthday boy!  and just have the quote, "just keep swimming, just keep swimming"..

    Good job mom!
