Favorite Indiana destination
DH and I have a trip planned in October to Michigan, but we are always talking about how there are so many great places in Indiana that we have not been too--which is ridiculous since I grew up here!
So what is your favorite place to visit in Indiana? and I think I am going to say Indy is off limits since that is awesome, but everyone probably knows about that

Re: Favorite Indiana destination
New Harmony in southwestern IN. Cute little town, and there is also a state park where DH and I like to take the pups hiking.
The Leavenworth/Corydon area. DH and I just stayed at a bed and breakfast on the Ohio and went canoeing on the Blue River. Super fun.
Brown County. I worked as a camp counselor there one summer and it was amazing. Nashville, IN is an adorable town. That was one of the best summers of my life.
And really any little town on the Ohio, particularly the area where I grew up. You can rent cabins on the river, go hiking in the Hoosier National Forest, go to some little local restaurants, etc.
I went to college in northern Indiana and I also really liked visiting Michigan City. I love the lighthouse and the beach there.

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DGreat suggestions! If you don't mind me asking, where did you go to college?! DH and I loved in Valparaiso for three years while he was in law school. Michigan City is a great little town!
I'm sending you a PM.
Snow!
<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DI love some of the State Parks. Turkey Run and McCormick's Creek are a couple of my favorites.
Brown County is another although it has been a while since I have been there.
I'm sure there are others but I am drawing a blank.
French Lick is fabulous. The resort is beautiful. And West Baden Springs Hotel is faboulous. I have heard good things about the golf course but I'm not a golfer. Oh and the SPA! Holy cow! It's heavenly! Patoka Lake is close by and it's fun if you have a boat or jet skis.
We loved the cabins at Lincoln State Park. They have a great park with awesome trails.
Brown County is great. we stayed in a cute little B&B. I can't remember the name of it. But Brown county is a cool place to visit.
And of Course Indiana's 1st City: Vincennes. It has a lot of History. There is the Clark Memorial, The Old Cathedral, Henry Harrison House & the Red Skelton Theater. There is a lot of neat stuff in Vin.
We spend a lot of time at Lake Lemon (not too far from Brown County). And this past weekend we found the Butler Winery. It's tucked away not far from the lake...a wonderful and beautiful "hidden gem"!
Every summer we also are sure to visit Blues Canoes in Columbus. Privately owned and we love that you are shuttled to the drop point and canoe back to your car (or campsite...they offer onsite camping too). They allow dogs so our pups can join us too.
Every June & September we travel to the tiny, beautiful town of Friendship for the awesome Friendship Flea Market. (It's not too far from Versailles SP). They also hold muzzle loading shoots/ contests. We don't attend those (they are held in designated areas)...but a lot of the participants will dress in Indian/ "cowboy" garb. Camping is allowed, and you'll be sure to see a few tepees too. If you like antiques and oddities, then this is the place to be! It's not full of "crafty" vendors like the Covered Bridge Festival tends to be (but there are still plenty of them too), so it's a different experience.
And in October we do go to the Covered Bridge Festival. We try to take a day off during the week to go so we're not fighting the crowd. I mainly go for the pumpkin ice cream.

I love French Lick. DH and I want to go down to the winery sometime soon.
If you're going to be in Northern Indiana Napanee is always a cute little place to go. There's a place called Amish Acres where you can go and visit a true living history site. They have cute little shops, tours, there's a couple restaurants and they even put on full on broadway plays and musicals. I recommend bringing a cooler and trying and taking home some of the cheeses that they make there. During the fall it's beautiful and they'll do pumpkin carving, apple cider, and apple butter...it's just a relaxing yet fun thing to do if you like those sorts of things. The town of Napanee also has some great shopping too!

My favorite place in Indiana is the North east corner, Steuben Count, land of 101 lakes. I grew up here and never actually appreciated the lakes until i left for college, got married and Moved to the North Central part in Indiana. I love Jimmerson Lake, Lk James and Pokagon State park. I love where my roots are at!
Turkey Run! I grew up about 3 miles from the park and it is beautiful! Right in the middle Covered Bridge country. If you go during the Covered Bridge Festival, I'd recommend going to Bridgeton.
