Re: FFFC's

  • So. My sister's 23rd birthday is in like, three weeks. And she's insisting she have this huge, five-day blowout thing. I'm annoyed that she's insisting on doing all this stuff (and expects people to dish out a cool $100+ for her birthday blowout thing). Then, she got mad at me because I can only make it one day.

I've been watching movies all day at work because there's NOTHING going on. And I really want BBQ for lunch, but I still feel like poo from last night.

I really, really miss H. And had to cancel my trip to see him because JJ's having surgery the same week I was gonna go see him, so it will have been 17 weeks from the last time I saw him until his graduation in October. *putting big girl panties on now*

  • Until the post below, I had no idea that some people have such clear make-up preferences, and that getting new makeup requires more thought than just going to CVS and saying "This one's on sale. The color looks reasonable. I have a new mascara!"

I wonder how common it is to be brand-loyal to specific cosmetic products, and, for some reason, feel strangely inadequate now in the makeup department. I feel like my Vag Card will be revoked unless I get my rear end to the Nordstrom beauty department this weekend Embarrassed

  • DH has been planning on going to an auction tomorrow for about 2 months, but now it looks like he'll have to work tomorrow instead.  I do feel bad for him b/c I know he wanted to go and he was looking forward to it, *but* I'm a little glad b/c it means he won't be spending $$.  I'm a bad wife.

I'm truly surprised by how many of you don't use toys--not even by yourself?

Like amanjay, I didn't realize make-up buying was such an intense process.  I wear Cover Girl concealer, eyeliner, and mascara, Ulta eyeshadow, and some powder from Clinique.  And the powder I just started wearing last year when my Clinique make-up artist friend recommended it.

My sister's friend passed away earlier this week and after attending the funeral today I'm amazed at the strength and faith his family has.  I question whether or not I would be that strong/faithful during a time like this if it were someone in my family....maybe it makes me a bad Christian or a bad person in general, but I really don't think I would be.

  • This is lame but... I sent my boss an email yesterday asking if he had time so I could discuss something with him.  I might have been deliberately cryptic just to scare him into thinking I was about to give my two weeks notice.  He was so anxious about it he calls me 15 minutes before our scheduled meeting so I could go ahead and spit it out.  Although I WISH I had such news to deliver, that wasn't the case today.  He admitted he was relieved to hear I had no plans to leave the company, but if all goes well with the interview I had last week... I might be calling him with another cryptic message soon.  Fingers crossed...  ;-)
  • Before I found Bare Minerals, I wasn't really brand loyal at all - I just used whatever didn't make my face oily or break out. But past my foundation, eye shadow and blush, I use whatever else I have on me. I think I may have found a mascara I like through Clinique, but I change my mind on that stuff every two months, I swear.

And I really have NEVER used a toy. I thought about getting one or two while H has been gone, but I'm not sure how he'd take that in the bedroom. Hm.

Snowful: keeping fingers crossed for you!

I kind of feel the same way. I buy my makeup at Target or CVS or wherever. I'm pretty loyal to the type of powder, eyeliner, and mascara I use, but none of it is more than $8 or so.

I think I usually look pretty decent, so unless someone speaks up and tells me otherwise, I'll stick to the cheap stuff.

I used to think this exact same thing, but then I found out Urban Decay has vegan stuff (Bare Minerals does too, doesn't it?) and that all of it is cruelty free. Now I get all my stuff from Urban, and all my nail polish from www.zoya.com.

That's something I really hadn't thought about at all, but definitely interesting. I'm in such a rut with my stuff. Pretty much do the same thing everyday, just add darker eyeshadow and thicker eyeliner when I'm going out. I'm kind of afraid to try anything new. And the ladies in Dillard's at the makeup counters scare me.

My FLAMMABLE confession related to this is that someone once did speak up and tell me I didn't look good :) It was actually one of the best experiences I think I've ever had regarding my appearance, and I'M the one who deserves to be flamed for wearing that crap, not the guy who told me.

My best friend's brother was two years older than the rest of us, and we all looked up to him in a "he's really cool" kind of way (not a "he's so dreamy" way.) My freshman year of high school I was wearing ENTIRELY too much eyeliner. Not only was it royal blue, but it was liquid and I put it on my upper and inside my lower lids. When I would blow my nose, you could see blue eyeliner in my snot (seriously!) Of course, my mascara was a matching royal blue. One night when Ryan was driving a couple of us girls home, we started talking about how cute his friends are. Ryan said to me, "You know, I'd like to tell you something but I don't want you to take it the wrong way." I said, "Ok." He responded, "My friends think you're so hot, but you're so pretty just the way you are that all of that blue gunk just gets in the way. I'd love to see what they'd have to say if you just showed up with a little less makeup on some day."

He said it in a big-brotherly way (not hitting one me,) and I'm sure his friends paid me no such compliments. He had just found a really nice way to tell me to knock off the blue mascara and eyeliner and stop looking like a tramp. I promptly did, and have looked scads better ever since. Thank you, Ryan, wherever you are!

Ha. Yeah, I wear too much eyeliner most of the time. It's a compulsion. I can't stop. I actually asked my roommate the other day if I had too much makeup on and she said, "well, some of it will wear off before you get there." :)

  • I just had a glass of wine...at 3:30 pm Embarrassed It's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?

I haven't started doing *anything* to prepare for the upcoming school year. Looks like next week is going to be killer for me, since we start the following week.

I am so sick of where we live in the OKC metro. It just seems trashy and yet too suburban (I realize that doesn't make sense)...even though it's one of the fastest growing areas with some really nice housing additions and a good school district. Thank goodness for me that we rent and plan on moving within 18 months. I'm tired of having to drive 20 minutes to find a decent non-chain restaurant.

  • My 24 year old, irresponsible sister is pregnant. She called me earlier this week and asked me if it was okay to smoke during her pregnancy, at least in the beginning until she could quit. I told her "NO". She then tells me the next day that she quit, but when I talk to her on the phone, I can hear her puffing away on those cigs! UGH!!

If it's something you like and makes you more "open" (for lack of a better word) in bed, your H will probably appreciate your efforts.  DH thinks it's a turn on that I have toys and that I know what to do with myself, KWIM?  Not to say our sex life depends on them b/c it doesn't, but it's a way to kick things up a notch every now and then.  If you decide to try it out, good luck ;)

Yes  I agree. While I'm not so brand loyal (though I do stick to Cover Girl for any powder, foundation type stuff because it matches my tone well) I'm not too specific. I'll try a different mascara every time.

I don't wear that much, anyway. You've met me. Makeup really isn't my thing. I'd rather spend my money on good food and good drinks. And good clothes. Drinks

If it makes you feel any better, I haven't done one.single.thing to get ready for school and I go back in less than a week (next Thursday).  You're in good company. Smile

I just downed my first glass of wine of the evening... You're in good company.

I peaced out early from work, came home to edit pictures, BAWLED my face off while multitasking and watching "Life As A House" and then did approx. 25 minutes of Zumba because I was too lazy to finish.

My thread a while back about how often you and your H "do the nasty" was really just research to see if anyone else, besides myself (3x/month), wasn't getting any...  haha  I flat out just told him that after my period, next month we were playing by my rules, just so that he could see how much more often I want it.  Should be fun....

    Happy weekend!

  • Here's my confession: (totally flammable, I know)  I feel like my parents make all of my decisions.  (NOT marital decisions, just little sh!t here and there) I feel like even if I decide something and I tell my mom what I'm going to do---if she disapproves or thinks it should be done another way, I do it.  I truly believe that she knows all and what is best for us.  Tyler has called me out on it multiple times, saying I give my parents final say in everything.  I don't tell them a lot, but what I do tell them, they take over.

Deciding on something for the house?  Mom rules over all--I think her taste is better than anyone else, and no one can provide an opinion to me if I've got hers.  Disciplining B?  I do what my mom says to do.  Furniture for his room? She's decided I need to buy him this Young America furniture from Thomasville, (it's apparently expensive but she thinks it will hold up great) and I will probably end up getting it--solely because she thinks that's what I need. What's so odd is that I'm strikingly opinionated...I don't get why I can't just make my own fvcking mind up.  I also feel that if I didn't do what my mom said when she provided her opinion, she really wouldn't be too bothered by me making my own decision.

For example: the other day I was telling B to stay up on the steps at my parent's lake house so my dad could back the boat in the garage.  He looked back at me and kept walking forward, and my mom says "you need to go smack his ass!  He is openly defying you".  I just wanted to say look, I'm aware of that, and I'm going to handle it without you trying to backseat parent.  Thanks.  But I didn't.

I love my parents and they have the best of intentions, but I need to realize they don't pay my bills anymore and I can wear the big girl panties now.  I just can't seem to do it.  Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy...
