Anything exciting going on this weekend? I can't believe August will be here tomorrow!
Re: Weekend Plans?
Cleaning today, going to visit my uncle for a bit (yesterday was his 80th but my aunt was diagnosed yesterday with a kidney stone and diverticulitis...so, we're not totally sure about the visit, yet), Sears to exchange the vacuum filter we bought because we got the wrong one.
Tonight, we have a wedding for one of H's fraternity brothers.
Tomorrow we are going to brunch with my sister, getting groceries, and I might make some freezer meals to help me out once school starts.
H was supposed to be off and we were going to clean out the storage unit, go pick out furniture for B, and I was going to use my fantastic Hoover Floor Mate to clean my floors. I will still be doing the last one, but Tyler is now at a rig in western OK, so I'll be going it alone this morning until he gets off work.
Tonight we are supposed to go eat with friends!
Tomorrow we may cook out and do the storage unit. Blah.
I (finally) got my hair cut this morning, and now no big plans. Probably some good napping and vegging in between laundry, grocery shopping, and other less-fun stuff.
Things have been so busy lately, so I'm glad to have the weekend to do nothing.
my bookshelf!
Bloggy
Hmm, off the subject BUT: What kind of freezer meals do you make? I've been wanting to try doing this since both H and I will be going to school 17+ hours this fall, but I have no idea where to start!
As for the weekend, nothing but serving "the man" at my retail job in the mall.
I spent some time with my parents and brother this morning and had lunch...now H and I are going to look at cars. We're considering getting me a more economical car since I travel with my job and my car gets horrible gas mileage (about 14...eek!). We'll see what happens!
Tonight we're staying in for dinner and some blue moon, yum! Tomorrow we'll hopefully go to church and just relax.
Today has been a lazy day with a few errands and a nice nap.
Tomorrow I hit the road for Omaha. I'm flying from there to MD for 3 1/2 weeks for work on Monday.
I'll probably do some pre-marinating of some chicken and pork chops (mix up the marinade and put meat in as usual in a large freezer bag, squeeze out the air, freeze as flat as possible) and eventually I plan on making chili or soups.
Two things that are easy to make and freeze is beef and bean burritos and mini-meatloaves.
Avoid putting potatoes in the freezer, as they often come out gummy. Some pasta dishes, like lasagna and mac and cheese, will make it through, but if you make a soup that needs pasta, it's best to add it after thawing and cooking. We don't eat a whole lot of pasta around here so this isn't a big deal for me.
I've actually not really done this for myself before...my sister and I once explored Super Suppers and had some fun with that, but it was a lot of processed and very salty things so we didn't continue. So, we'll see how this all goes. I might not get to it this weekend; H is going to be out of town next weekend so that might be the perfect opportunity!
I also hope to explore the use of my crockpot a little more next year. I just have this feeling that it's going to be a very busy year for me and that I'm going to need help!
Our weekend was relatively low key. We cleaned the house, washed the cars and played water games with the dogs, they love that.
Tomorrow will be a day of sleep as I will be up all night working on an assignment, yes... I procrastinated until the very last minute.
