Anyone know anything about Milford?-moving to CT

Hi there,

I have been on the knot and the bump for years now and my family is thinking of moving to CT from FL. We are Northerners from NYC and RI and are looking to live somewhere in between where we can be near the water. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this area.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Anyone know anything about Milford?-moving to CT

  • Milford is a great area to be in. Its centrally located between Bridgeport and New Haven, there are some great restaurants around town. Also good shopping locally and a large mall. Beaches and parks and lots to do.
  • My husband and I (married 7/3/10) moved to Milford about four years ago when we were dating.  We absolutely love it and never want to live anywhere else.  There are great restaurants, shopping, and beaches.  We love living near the water.  It is an easy 90 minute train ride if you want to go to NYC and to get to RI you just go north on 95.  If you were looking lower in Fairfield County, like the Fairfield, Westport, Norwalk areas it gets a lot more expensive.  If you need any advice about neighborhoods or schools in Milford, let me know.  I would be happy to help!  Katie

  • We currently live in Milford. We lived right next to the train station when we rented in the center of town. Lots to do in the area including great restaurants and night life. We just bought a home in Milford, but closer to the Stratford line. I've found it to be very quiet, although the lots are very small. We like it here because it's a great commuting location, great restaurants, school system is good too. I grew up in the area in West Haven, and DH is from RI.

  • I have been living in Milford for 4 years now.  We rented just outside of downtown for a few years before buying on the Milford/West Haven border.  When it came time to buy a house, Milford was our top choice.  My H commutes on the train, so it is convenient.  Also, I love having beach access in the summer!

  • DH and I both grew up and Milford, we live here now, and I work here.  It's a nice place to live with many beaches, and centrally located between Bridgeport and New Haven, and just a train ride away from NYC.  We love it here!!
