I know a lot of the questions I have you probably won't be able to help with because I live in a rain forest. No, I'm not exaggerating, I live in Queensland Australia...but, a lot of the plants we do have are tropical house plants in the US, so....
Does any one know how to kill Heliconias? Everything I find on-line tells me how to propagate them and well, these plants are the devil. They are everywhere. The patch I just dug up has roots as big around as my wrist. I'd like to kill the roots (the plant part is very dead at this point).
Right now the only solution I can come up with is to have my H "accidentally" spill some lawn mower gasoline in the area and for me to "accidentally toss a lit match into the same area.
Any information would be helpful.
Re: Hi! New here but need to kill stuff
All of the gasoline will not be consumed and you are essentially creating a hazardous waste site. I'd contact Australian gardeners for helpful techniques. One that comes to mind is

good luck
What herbicides have you tried so far that have not worked?
Please don't tell me gasoline was your FIRST idea.
Well, the gasoline part was tongue in cheek, but the fire part...
Not sure what herbicide H used to kill the plant but the roots are about 1.5 feet down.
I didn't even know they made bush killer, so that will be next.
Thanks.
I use a mix of Vinager/Salt and a dash of dish soap and BAM Dead!
1gal of white vinager
1C salt
a pinch of dish soap
mix in a jug and pour over it. DEAD!
Yikes. I wouldn't want this in my soil. Glyphosate is much safer.
