Flip camcorder

I am looking to purchase the Flip as a gift for my sister. The reviews online seem to be very mixed. Anyone here have one?

Re: Flip camcorder

  • We have a Flip.  It was a gift but we really enjoy it.

It takes a pretty good video with sound.  And its very handy, its small which is nice.

I was happy to receive it as a gift.

My MIL has borrowed it too and with the program on the device itself it is easy peasy to upload the videos onto any computer.  She thought it was simple enough to use.

  • I own it and I LOVE it!
  • We have one  - I got it for DH for his birthday a few months ago.  He loves it, so far.  He found some great free software to edit videos and add music and the videos are really nice.  I think the key with the clarity is lighting - we've found that videos taken without adequate lighting were pretty grainy.  FWIW, we have the 120 min. HD Flip.  It's really easy to use.  Also, keep in mind, you'll need a special HDMI cable if you get the HD Flip and want to hook it up to your TV.
  • Thanks!

  • I have used them before, and if you want your videos to stay on your computer they're great.  I have videos that are less than 1 minute, but I can't email them, I can't put them onto a flash drive, and I can't copy them onto a recordable DVD/CD.  I read that in most of the reviews as well, that the files are too large to be removed from your computer.
