Today was my first day at my great new job, and I was so excited I even got there 20 minutes early. Now, please tell me the following is not one of the most embarrassing things that could happen on such a day!
C&P from my blog:
Although I only slept about 3 hours total last night (I was anxious-excited about starting work and could not stop my racing thoughts), my cold shower (water heater isn?t working!) had me bright-eyed, shivering, and bushy-tailed by 7am. The coffee never tasted so good, and I could hardly stop myself from leaving the house a full 20 minutes earlier than I needed to. Needless to say, I was excited.
When I pulled up to work, my supervisor was getting out of her car, so I waved at her as I put it in park and climbed out of the car. I knew something was wrong as soon as I stood up. Yep, that breeze on the back of my legs should NOT have come through my dress, but sure enough, it was. My tailored black dress that I?d picked out especially for today had torn! Granted, it wasn?t tailored for me since my granny bought it in a consignment shop last summer, but still I thought it fit me pretty well. Now tell me that isn?t the most motivating sign to hit the treadmill!!!
Anyway, I grabbed the back to hold it together while I made my way over to my supervisor as she stood waiting for me at the front of the car.
?Carol, you are not going to believe this, but my dress just ripped!? I said, horrified.
I must say, she was incredibly gracious about the whole thing and just laughed and said, ?I guess you need to run home?? Thankfully, I had something else I could throw on quickly and get back to work. Good thing I got to work early, because even after all of that I was still at my desk by 8:20, and of course the woman training me understood why she was late. I?m glad we can all laugh about that!
So, that was my first hour at the new job. Thankfully my supervisor understood and even noted, "At least you noticed it before you got inside!"
True story. I had to share it, and I hope you got a laugh, I know I laughed at myself!
Re: How is this for the first day on the job?
LOL. I'm glad your supervisor understood.
I have been known to fix wardrobe malfunctions with staples.
LOL! Very nifty!
My very first day at my job, I tripped on the cuff of my pants and went flying headfirst onto the floor. My shoes came off, and I had rips in my socks so my toes were sticking out.
Oh, did I mention it was all caught on camera?
I actually have a pair of pants that need to go to the tailor with a staple in them! I was tripping on them at work and needed to take care of it ASAP.
