Favorite locally owned shops?

H and I just had a conversation about Christmas because I decided it's about time for me to get started shopping.  We decided we'd like to do as much of our Christmas shopping as possible at local businesses, but I am not a big shopper, so I can only think of a couple of locally owned shops.  We'll be buying for everyone from little kids to grandparents, so any suggestions of your favorite cool shops in the OKC area would be appreciated.  Thanks!

  • I think it's called Craig's Curious Emporium in the Paseo. Definitely a lot of stuff and definitely interesting.

I'm a horrible gift shopper, though. Unfortunately, I end up buying a lot of gifts online.

  • Antique malls are my fav.  Local people buying booths...I could look all day long!  There's a great one on 23rd Street, and if you ever venture out West--we stopped in Weatherford (on I40 about an hour west of OKC) one time and there is a fantastic antique mall right off of the second exit after Airport Rd...I have to go back every few months just to see if they have something new!

  • I have bought some great toys for M at Copelands in Norman. That's also where my DCP buys all of her toys. I maybe mistaken but I think they are locally owned but I could be wrong.

  • I like On A Whim on N. Western (soon to be moving to Classen Curve) and The Painted Door in downtown OKC. Both stores have a lot of great stuff for various ages.

What about some of the shops in downtown Yukon?  We have got some cool new places.

I went into the Laobi boutique a couple of months ago when I was looking for my Toms, but they were doing some roofing and it sounded like the ceiling was about to fall in, so I didn't stick around to look at everything. Stick out tongue  I'll have to go one Saturday morning and check out what other stores are over there.
