Questions about your wedding...
For an upcoming article, we want to know: What were some things you nearly forgot about until it was almost too late? (For example, one of our editors nearly forgot to buy a gift for friends who hosted the ceremony in their backyard).
Also, did anyone encounter any honeymoon disasters? What did you do to make it a great trip anyway?
Thanks!

Re: Questions about your wedding...
Here's a honeymoon disaster for you:
DH & I went to Germany for our honeymoon. We were meant to go for 2 weeks. While in Germany, a little volcano in Iceland erupted and completely ruined European travel for weeks. Our flight got canceled 2 days before we were to go home. We got rescheduled 2 times, and we almost got stuck there for an extra week. In order to avoid that, we took an 8 hour train ride to Amsterdam where we stayed with a guy who was a friend of a friend of a friend. We spent about 12 hours in Amsterdam, boarded a flight to Detroit, and after an 8 hour plane ride from Amsterdam to Detroit, a 6 hour layover in Detroit, and a 2 hour plane ride from Detroit to Boston, we FINALLY made it home.
While at the time I hated it, we ended up going to Augsburg, which wasn't on our original itinerary, and it was a lot of fun. We also took a 3 hour tour of Amsterdam from the guy we were staying at which made us both want to come back. It's definitely a story to tell the grandkids

Amanda definitely wins the honeymoon disaster prize.
I got air-sick as we flew directly through a storm in a propeller plane and puked on the way to my honeymoon, but once we got there it was lovely!
I totally thought of you Cindy while we were at the airport!!

Hah, Amanda, I remember your "adventure". You definitely take the prize.
I have an almost forgot something moment. I was super organized leading up to the wedding - had files and lists of everything - so everything that was supposed to made it to the venue. So the ceremony starts, I am in the bridal suite right outside the ceremony room listening to the music and there's a tap on the door telling me it's my turn to go down the aisle. I left the room and was standing with my parents at the entrance to the ceremony room, my processional music starts and I'm about to take my first step, and I realized that I forgot my bouquet! Fortunately the maitre'd grabbed it from the bridal suite for me real quick and I only ended up walking down the aisle about 20 seconds later than I planned. A few of my guests noticed though and joked with me about it later.
TTC #1 since 4/10, Dx: MFI IVF planned for April/May
Amanda didn't you also have Strep while you were there?!?!?
My DOC left our rings at my parents house...luckily my sister answered her cell phone and we were still at their house...OY!
I did not forget anything the day of the wedding, so no story there, but I have a honeymoon one. My hubby and I went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon and we were there when the 6.5 mag earthquake hit. In fact, we were just a few miles from the epicenter. I would not call this a disaster by any means, no one was hurt, but it certainly put an interesting twist on our trip. I grew up in CA and have been through my fair share of earthquakes, but it was my H's first so he was a little shaken (no pun intended), and a lot of guests at our resort were freaking out! Also, the telephones were down for a while so we could not call home to tell our families we were ok, and of course they all saw it on the news and were having panic attacks. The rest of the trip was fantastic, but this made for an interesting story to tell when we got home.
Yes, yes I did! Oh man, I forgot about that!

The honeymoon thankfully went off without a hitch, but I had a complete forgetful moment the day of the wedding. I had met with the church organist before the actual day, but had never met the cantor. The organist had told me to bring a couple checks the day of the wedding to pay them both. I completely forgot about this until after the ceremony was over and DH and I were waiting for everyone to leave the church. It wouldn't have been a big deal except NO ONE had a checkbook. We were all carrying our little purses and of course a checkbook didn't fit in those.
My amazing DOC ended up writing the checks for us ($400 worth so no small amount to me) and my parents paid her back at the reception. It was a total 'Doh!' moment.
I almost forgot to pack for the night before and the night of the wedding! We were in such a rush to get out the door with everything, I didn't even THINK about packing clothes, too!
Honeymoon disasters? I ate way too much coconut and drank too much Aruba water and had nasty..emm..poops for a day and a half. I was still able to hang out on the beach. I wasn't going to let a sore bum get in my way! NO way!
