Hello Ladies!!

It's been a while...and this place is soooo quiet!

I started back to work last Thursday and I HATE IT! I never had to put Kelsey into daycare until she was over a year old, she could walk, talk and sign some and tell them what she needed. I am having such a problem with Hayden going...ugh. And of course work wants to change my schedule to work later now...not gonna happen!

How is everyone else doing??

Re: Hello Ladies!!

  • Man, this is something I am not looking forward to - I am on the hunt for daycare because i have to go back to work, but it is SO hard, especially knowing that there is no way for this little one to communicate anything.

Other than that, we are waiting on a closing date and can't wait to get in there and get settled and be done with the apartment living.

  • I've been working in an infant room at a daycare now for the last couple weeks. I can tell you a little about what goes on in the center I'm working in.
In NY the ratio of infants to caregivers is 4:1 (usually we have 3 teachers for 9 kids)
Each child has their own schedule. They eat based on what the parents tell us their schedule is. They are changed at least every 2 hours (more if they have pooped or are really wet). The only times they may not get changed on time is if they are eating or napping during the time they are supposed to be changed, but as soon as they are awake or finished eating, they get changed. The kids names are all written on a white board in the diaper area and the time they need to be changed is on there. Every time they get changed we write the next time on the white board).
Kids hands are washed after every diaper change and the change table is sanitized after every change. we also put down change table paper.

Every kid has their own clipboard where the parent's sign them in, tell how they slept, when and how much they last ate, when they were last changed, and any other important information. Every time the child naps, eats, or gets changed, it is written on the chart, with the time and the initials of the person who did it.

bottles are kept in labelled containers in the fridge (each child has their own) dry food is stored in labelled cubbies in the cupboard.

Meag, my best advice is to tour a few places and find one that you get a good vibe from.

  • Im doing ok. Its super quiet here now.

Not much really going on for us. We are trying to get back in the saddle so to speak about trying again. DH keeps saying he wants to wait til we see all the drs now its he wants to wait til the tests are all done. I think hes nervous it will happen again. I am too but Im also excited to get pregnant again. We both said if it happens again we are going to heavily look into other options.

  • Hey Britt! It is quiet around here, but good to hear from you. I'm sure it must be hard to send your little guy to daycare, but hope you find one that you feel really comfortable with!

  • This is pretty much the same as my daycare. They ask me every morning when the last time he ate was and then they adjust his schedule for the day. The morning teacher seems to be really good about getting him on the floor for tummy time and interacts with him. The afternoon its a older lady and it seems like she just gets them all to sleep...which is fine. She seems very nice and loving to him.

I just want to be with him!

  • I HATED going back to work.  The first week was so hard!  It is nice knowing DH has her for most of the day.  Unfortunately soon he won't because he is either getting a new job or going back to school (He's still waiting on the police academy).  I so wish I could stay home with her, but that won't be happening for a long time!

Declinn is 4 months!  I can't believe it.  We are starting solids this week.  that should make for some good pictures!
