Renters Insurance

Hey all,

We're trying to find renters insurance for the house we're renting in Dade County.  Our car insurance is through USAA (military) but they won't cover renters insurance in Florida.

Who do you use and how much do they cost?  Thanks!

Re: Renters Insurance

  • We use Allstate who is now going through Castle Key (you can just go to Allstate though).  Their rates are based on credit, but our base policy only costs 300/yr.  I have a few add ons which brings it to about 500/yr (personal property, etc.).

  • I work for State Farm and we sell through Citizens which is pretty decent. I've hear of companies like Royal Palm and Tower Hill but RP is expensive,,,,

  • i have had usaa in florida, its been a couple years, but we had renters in orlando 2007
  • I go through State Farm and have Citizens. It's pretty good. It's all obviously based on the amount you want covered. We dont have a ton of our stuff down here though, so we only have $6000 of our stuff covered and it's $200/year. I want to say that $25000- that they initally quoted us was around $600-700? I am pretty sure you can just call and ask. I use Nick Waddell and they have been nothing but helpful!
