So Chloe sleeps with us in our bed, which is no small feat. We have a queen size bed, and she's probably the size of a 5 year old. So she sleeps at the foot of the bed, parallel to us, with her body in the middle and legs pointed out. Usually I slide my legs under the covers, and under her legs. At about 12:30 last night, I go to move her and I notice a wet spot under her butt. She peed in the bed!!
She is completely house trained and only has accidents when she has a UTI, which is fairly frequent (the UTIs, not the accidents). But she has never peed in the bed. Of course I had to sleep on the couch after that. Adam offered to, but I knew I wouldn't fall asleep right away and wanted to watch TV downstairs. Now, though, my body is cursing me and I'm super tired because I woke up early and didn't get to sleep till 2. ![]()

Re: WTH dog?!?!
Aw, yuck!
We're not plannign to allow our dog to sleep in the bed with us but that's mainly because she's so little that if she tried to jump off onto the hardwood floor she could break a bone...that happened to our friends' dog (same breed) - her little guy jumped off their bed onto their hardwood floor, broke a leg, and went into shock. :-( So no doggie in our bed! She'll stay safelfy on ground level in her own little bed.
Maybe Chloe has another UTI or just got lazy?
Eww! I agree; maybe get her checked out. That sounds really unusual, especially for a housebroken dog.
Gulliver sleeps with us when he wants to. Matt said this morning that he woke up and the kitty was snuggled up between us. He does that a lot in the winter, but in the summer, he likes to be all prowly and stay up by himself. Another sign that fall is on its way... It gets a little crowded in our full-size bed with all three of us piled in, but we love it.
FULL SIZE BED? Jeeze I would not be able to sleep in a full with my hubby lol.
Our dog sleeps with us, she knows to get off the bed if she has to pee, and I always hear her tags jingle so I know to get up and let her out. She has peed on the bed twice in a year and a half, once when she was still REALLY little, and once a few months ago, it was so random! We were cleaning, had all the sheets off the bed to be washed, and she just jumped up on the bed and peed on the mattress! I have no idea why!
Matt is average-to-big sized, but I am small.
It's definitely cozy, but we like it. I feel lost when we're staying somewhere with a queen- or king-size bed. What's the point in sharing if I can't even tell that he's there? LOL
He and the cat and I are all big-time snugglers, so it works.
We have a queen size bed, but I'm sure we could comfortably sleep in a single...we sleep completely wrapped around one another, so even though we're both normal-size we don't take up a lot of room in a bed.
I actually hate king size beds because they feel really empty and weird when we're sleeping in one...I like to be able to kick one leg out of the blankets but it doesn't really work in a king because my legs don't reach the edge of the bed...
Chloe's only a year and a half, and incredibly housebroken, she could go 13 hours without peeing if she has to. She's acting normal, and hasn't done it since, knock on wood. Maybe it was really just an accident. I just get so worried, because I'm a worrier by nature.
Adam and I are both bigger people, so us and a 95lb dog and occasionally a cat between us makes for a stuffed bed! Plus, we're both really warm bodied people, so we can cuddle for a little while, then give each other a kiss and face the other way, because I sleep on the right side of the bed and on my right side, and Adam sleep on the left side of the bed and on his right side. Adam wants to get a king sized bed, but I'm not sure we have enough room in our bedroom. We need to get a lower one for when we have kids because that's a long way to fall if something happens.
We allow the animals on the furniture just because I've never done any different. She is the first dog that I've owned, so I really didn't know any better. However, her sleeping on the couch is ridiculously adorable, no denying.
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
This made me laugh. I have always slept with my animals. DH and I share a king bed with 3 small dogs. He mentioned this to one of his coworkers and they guy went off about us allowing the dogs to sleep in our bed. The guy was appalled! I just laughed because I couldn't imagine it any other way!!!
