Another s/o - church camp

I saw this article this morning and thought it tied in quite nicely to our discussions about faith-based camps.  What do those of you who are religious think about the "phone calls from God" mentioned at the beginning of the article?  Would you send your child to this camp?

While I don't like the "phone calls from God" idea, I think the rest of the camp sounds pretty much like a normal VBS.  The phone calls bother me because God isn't Santa or the Easter Bunny.  It's not like next week we're going to sit on his lap and take pictures, so why would they have "him" call the children?  Weird.

Yeah....I don't like the phone calls from God thing. This reminds me of my brother. To get his daughter to clean her room he'll have my mom call and talk like she's Santa so my niece will obey.

I would never say to my child you better behave or I'm going to God on phone. (I know that's not what they were doing exactly but I think it has the same effect)

This exactly.  The phone call from God is ridiculous.

I'm quoting b/c I couldn't have said it better.  I think the camp is teaching them things we would be teaching our children so I like that aspect, but the phone calls from God thing is ridiculous.

They're screwed when the kids start wondering why God hasn't called them in a while.
