Pick up a copy of PEOPLE magazine this week!
There is a fabulous article about Beloved, the boy from Zimbabwe that
we brought home with us this past October to have surgery at UCLA. It
is one of the largest humanitarian features that PEOPLE has ever done.
It will only be on newsstands for the rest of this week, so pick up
your copy quickly! The cover says "Meet the McCains"
I was fortunate to be able to form a relationship with Beloved while he
was in the hospital (where I work) and lived with the Trubenbach family
(director of Operation of Hope). I even attended his 17th birthday
party at Medieval Times!

How awesome. Can't wait to see it!
He is actually back in Orange County for now. He went back to Zimbabwe but because of the political climate (and the fact that his story is about a land mine---a fact that Mugabe and the Zimbabwean government would like to deny), he was picked back up and returned to Orange County. I think he is attending school in Mission Viejo right now.
I'll update you guys!

Very interesting! The article stated that he had attended a private school in Mission Viejo and it sounded as if he had gone back to Zimbabwe but was back for a "visit." We live in MV so it was interesting that he was right here. I was actually reading it and thinking about what an adjustment it must have been for him to go back to Zimbabwe where they didn't even have running water after having so much here.
The article said that he had attended Kindergarten but was socializing at lunch time with older kids so I assume he's back doing that.
I also didn't realize that Turenbach (sp??) was the head of Operation Hope.
Very cool all around!
