Talk to me about grilled pizza. I have pizza dough in the fridge that I have been wanting to grill. I read a blog that said it was the biggest mess. It sounds DELISH!!!!
Re: SlayerKate
It's really easy. I make my dough but it works with pre-made too, just defrost the dough first. You can place the dough directly on the grill you don't need a pizza stone or pan.
Heat up your grill on high for about 10 minutes or so before hand. Put olive oil on both sides of the dough.Turn down the grill to medium and put the dough on the grill (no toppings yet) for about 1-2 minutes on each side. We do about 1.5 minutes. Take your dough off turn up the heat again. Add your toppings.
I use canned tomato sauce, you don't need very much, just cover the dough. Add cheese and other toppings. If you use fresh veggies or mushrooms grill those before hand. We usually do pepperoni with olives and jalapenos but we've also done Hawaiian on the grill and it turned out really well.
Before you put the pizza back on the grill turn it way down. Place your pizza on the grill and lower the lid. Cook for 3-5 minutes until cheese melts. Then take it off the grill and enjoy. Our grill is very temperamental so I had to play with this and it took a few tries to get it right.
Here is the dough recipe I use
