Need major thoughts and prayers
I've posted on here before about my niece who was shaken and abused at the age of two by the man who was engaged to her mother. (Ava is my brother's daughter; he and her mom were never married. She met this other guy when Ava was a little over a year old. He has a history of drugs and abuse, but Ava's mom stayed with him anyway.)
Ava was a perfectly healthy little girl, and now because of this man, she is no longer able to talk, walk, stand, eat, drink, and more. She has movement of one of her hands/arms and that's it. She laughs and makes noises, but does not communicate in any other way.
This happened on February 14, 2006 and the trial FINALLY starts today. It has been pushed back many times, but it's really happening this time. Jury selection starts today.
I will be taking the rest of the week off to attend the trial.
Please send out your biggest thoughts and prayers to my niece and my family. Although, getting this man convicted will not change Ava's condition, it will be the beginning of making him pay for what he has done.
