We have a couple that we get together with a couple times a year that is coming up to visit next weekend. I always like to do a little more (as far as cooking) when they come just because it always feels like a special/fun event. I am working on my menu for the weekend and was hoping to get some fun ideas for breakfast, dinner and snacks. I was going to do turkey burgers on the grill for Friday night... what are some fun sides to go with? Also, do you have any 'go-to' breakfast casserole recipes? The wife doesn't eat much meat so I need something other than my typical egg/sausage casserole.
Re: Weekend guests
I made these veggies this past weekend - fab!
I made this for a dinner party in May and it was a huge hit.
These were delicious and really popular as well. For an easy shortcut, buy the frozen, cubed, raw potatoes that you microwave for 9 minutes to make mashed potatoes.
I feel like a broken record because I recommend this quiche so often lol It's always gone when I serve it.
Also another broken record recipe because this chicken always gets raves. I mean, for raves about boring ol' chicken, you know it's got to be good.
Have a great time this weekend! For a special touch, consider putting a little vase of flowers in their room to make them feel extra welcome.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
This french toast was really good.

Thanks! I am definitely going to do those stuffed peppers and the hash brown quiche.
We always have to offer up our master bedroom when we have guests since we don't have a spare room right now, but great idea on adding flowers to the bedside table... i never thought of that; plus i get to enjoy them for the couple days after the guests leave
I made my own version of these:

I did mine with turkey sausage, basil, cheddar and onions/red peppers. You can pretty much make anything in them you like...I sauted all the veggies and cooked the sausage before. I actually made them the day before and re-heated them in the microwave, but you could just get the veggies cooked before and put them together the morning of. Read the comments on the recipes...mine did have to cook an additional 5-10 minutes.
For a side with turkey burgers. I love this orzo salad:

I add in feta cheese too. It is really tasty and makes a lot! THe dressing is good too.
