What's up ladies?

Today starts my first whole week of semi-unemployment.  My days off have been really productive, I got my truck oil changed and took it in for an annual inspection, cleaned the entire house, shampooed the carpets, bathed the dogs, mowed the lawns, picked up the dry cleaning, grocery shopped, took stuff to the GoodWill and more.

It feels so good to finally have time to get all the little stuff done.  But, I am anxious to find another full time day job.  I had a phone interview this morning and was asked to come in on Wednesday to meet the staff.  So if all goes well I should have two second interviews this week.  My night job is giving me about 35 hrs/wk so that keeps teh bill paid.

This weekend we're off to LA for a friend's wedding.  I'm so excited for the wedding as I just adorable the couple, but also because the guests include two of my very bfs whom I haven't seen in 2 years (one lives in Indonesia).  Just have to go dress shopping....ooohh...maybe I'll post some pictures and let you decide what I wear.....

  • I am just recovering from the weekend.  Yesterday was the first time in almost 2.5 years that Grayson didn't sleep a wink from the time he woke at 6:40am till he went to bed at 7:40pm.  It was a long/whiny day.  But I got one of my favorite pictures of all time (I went in to see if he was asleep and found he'd crawled into Carter's crib and was lying on the pillow next to him with his arm draped over Carter. So sweet. Of course Carter woke up  - but it is such a cute picture!)

We leave on Friday to go visit my parents in GA. It'll be exhausting (my mom has Parkinsons and my dad is her caretaker so they can't help with the kids and their house is far from kid friendly.) But they live at the beach, so we have lots of room for the kids to run!  And it'll be a nice change of pace.  We just have a lot of packing to do before then!

  • The highlight or I guess the lowlight of my day is that I have a touch of food poisoning.  Now food poisoning=yuck but trying to teach+food poisoning=super yuck.

We went out on sat and I must of gotten some bad food.  Now i am muddling along until school gets out so I can go home and rest until I need to take the dog to the vet.

Then it is the couch and dry toast and correcting todays quizes.

Post the dresses that should be fun.

  • oh, sorry to hear about the food yuckies :(  hope you feel better soon.

this day is absolutely dragging for me....for whatever reason I dont have too much work right now and without a wedding to plan - i'm bored! lol.  I've definitely decided I need a new hobby, so i think i'll spend the afternoon finding a horse rescue group or some such org that needs a volunteer.

and please do post the dresses!

  • E- New hobby = BOTB. You could pick paint colors, baby blankets, look at all the cool new gadgets. Maybe pick up a few things! ;-)

Oooor you could write a cook book, I'm sure we'd all love to own a copy!

S- Soooo sorry bout the bad food, that is NEVER fun.

    J- Dresses. Yes please post!

The weekend was very chill for us. We laid low, and did a bit of baby sitting. The most adorable well adjusted three year old. I've ever met. I love that kid.

  • Sam - feel better!
Elise - I was bored after our wedding too :-)
Janet - Good luck with interviews!!

Things are good here.  I've been a nanny for 6 days, and so far, so good.  They are really easy babies, which is a big help - not criers, set in their routine, etc.  It's funny, one of C's friends said to her: Uh oh, once she gets a taste of taking care of kids full time, she might not want to be a SAHM anymore... Quite the opposite :-)  It's definitely challenging at times, but beats a desk job anyday, and while the early mornings SUCK, it's great to be home early enough to get in some "me" time and still be able to have dinner ready for when C gets home.

C's parents and aunt are visiting at the end of the month and are going to stay with us for the night!  We're both really excited and working hard on finishing getting the place together for them!  We had no travels or family visiting to do this past weekend or this coming weekend, and it just feels incredible (after our insanely busy summer) to have time to relax and spend time with each other and start pulling the place together with fun stuff like hanging pictures and making the place pretty :-)

  • it's been a crazy week here. we had a really strong wind storm on sunday and power was out to 300,000 homes and businesses in my area. we had very minor damage to our tress--especially considering how some of our neighbors fared--and we never lost power at home for more than a few seconds, but it's still out where i work and isn't expected to be restored until tomorrow night at the earliest. they're warning people to be prepared for it to take a week or more for all power to be restored. yesterday i stayed at work until around 1:30 and did some paperwork until my boss sent me home. i only made it to 10:30 this morning before he sent me home. i got the front yard all cleaned up yesterday afternoon, but all three of our yard cans are now stuffed. we'll probably fill all of them at least twice more before we can get it all out of the backyard, and we've added our really big stuff to the neighbors' pile to be chipped. on the upside, we've now restocked our firewood supply for next year thanks to our other neighbors.
