Another type of care package :)

A friend that lives out of town just had her baby girl last night. I already gave a shower gift, but I wanted to send some type of small care package for the new parents. Any ideas of stuff the new mom might want for herself during this time at home with a newborn?

Re: Another type of care package :)

  • Lanolin (if she's bf'ing), nursing pads, a soothing sounds/sleep CD so she can have something sane playing in the background of her crazy 3am nights, Target/Wal-Mart gift card, diapers in the next size up, diaper rash cream (the good stuff) that you can get at local pharmacies that they mix up for you--or Boudreaux's butt paste, that worked well for us too.  A cute outfit in the 3-6 month size for fall would also be nice!

  • Like the idea of diaper cream and diapers. Can never have enough of those. Also a gift card is always appreciated.

  • Nipple cream, tucks pads, and sienna coata (or whatever) vegetable laxative. She will thank you later :0)

If you don't feel comfortable with buying those items. Maybe bringing over dinner or something? That would be nice.

  • Send her Jewel's Lullaby CD.  Her baby will never sleep so well......  Trust.

She lives out of town Smile Otherwise, I would totally be taking a meal. This is basically in lieu of a meal.

I know they live right by a McAlister's...would a gift card be nice so her husband could just go pick it up one night for dinner?

  • I think a McAlister's gift card would be excellent! Something else I've given new moms before is a gift certificate for a massage.

  • I second the food. Gift cards for food are fantastic. Our next door neighbors have been fantastic through out my pregnancy, and the day we came home from the hospital they had left a small basket on our porch that had diapers, wipes, a pacifier, and like 5 gift cards to different restaurants. It was fantastic! The last thing you want to do when you get home with a new baby is cook, and Taco Bell runs get old!

What do you mean that's the wrong side? Tastes great to me!

you like those reading skillz, right????

I think the GC would be a great idea! Especially since you can get salad and such there and not burgers and other yuck! items.
