We're going on vacation for 2 weeks next month and I'm trying to figure out what to do with my outdoor potted plants. We have a tomato topsy turvy with a monster tomato plant growing out of the bottom and mint growing from the top. We also have the strawberry topsy turvy and some potted herbs.
One option would be to move everyone inside and use these: http://www.ehow.com/how_4907491_watering-system-potted-plants-cutoffs.html
Or we can invest in a drop irrigation system like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Raindrip-R559DP-Automatic-Drip-Watering/dp/B0006VOR1G
Anyone have any experience or ideas? I suppose I could ask a neighbor to water them, but I'm not sure I can count on that since they need tons of water every single day.
Re: Automatic waterer for topsy turvy?
You could hook your hose up to a timer. Gardener's Supply has a couple like these:

I tried using the Water Globes while we went on vacation for a week and they definitely do NOT work well for outside. They're okay for indoor potted plants though.
