XP: Date night ideas needed ASAP!

DH and I have a sitter over Saturday night (our first real night out since DD was born) - and I guess we?ve grown a little moss, because we can?t think of what to do! Our plan was dinner and then heading to our hotel, but we ended up not being able to get a dinner reservation until 9 pm. Our sitter is arriving at 5:30 pm. So now we?re wracking our brains trying to think of something to do in Portland tomorrow night between 5:30 and 9:00 pm!

So far, we?ve thought of:
-- wine bar or coffee/gelato (great, but three hours at either will be a stretch),
-- Chinese Garden tea house (already been to the garden - twice - and again, maybe not 3 hours worth)
-- browsing Powell?s (not really date-ish enough),
-- art museum (but we?re not interested in the visiting exhibit and we?ve seen the standing exhibits a million times)
-- Washington Park concert (not interested in that night?s performance).

We thought a concert of some kind would be fun, but most of those don?t really get started until 9 pm, so we were thinking of maybe a wine bar with some sort of live music. We?re going to be dressed for dinner, so hiking and such is not realistic.

Any ideas???

  • You could go to see a movie at McMenamins and have dinner at the same time.  There is also a theater downtown called Living Room Theater that is a lot nicer and most likely has better movies.  I believe they have a wine bar and you can have dinner while watching your movie too.

  • It sounds like they already have dinner reservations. I would check out a wine bar in downtown Portland and taste some different wines with some appetizers.
  • I would say ditto on the movie and instead of just eating dinner -- have drinks & an appetizer!  I love that you can see a movie here & have a drink about the same time.  It's gotta be one of our favorite things we discovered since moving to Portland!
  • Oops. Sorry, I just skimmed it.

  • you could wander downtown a bit and then get a drink at the heathman (or any other place). Or, you could do something like bowling. massages, manicures, take a quick trip to mult. falls.

Good luck and have fun! We get a date night tomorrow too but we're just doing dinner and a movie then back home :)

  • You can go to barefoot sage in SE and get lower leg massages and drink tea.  It's quite peaceful, and romantic there.
