James and I are hoping to take a little trip away somewhere around Christmas, likely only 2 nights and somewhere pet friendly and not too far away. We unfortunately don't have enough money to spend to fly home to see family.
We were thinking: the coast for the "winter storms" (never been in the winter), mt. hood for snowshoeing, or Leavenworth, WA, the Bavaria-esque town.
Any other thoughts on places to go?? recs of places to stay?
I'm stalking vrbo.com currently.

the pass to leavensworth closes sometimes in the winter, and as cute as it is, I'd probably worry about that. It's not like it happens that often but murphy's law and all
I'd do the beach! Lincoln City is fun for storms or you could stay in/near Depot Bay (the waves can shoot pretty high in the summer and it is even more dramatic in the winter!). I know there is a decent resort near there and lots of rentals.
We went to Leavenworth after our wedding and rented a small vacation rental near a lake. It was super cute and the town was kind of cheesy but fun and the food was good . But I'm not sure what it would be like in winter. What about a weekend at a B&B somewhere or at Skamania Lodge or something like that?
Another option is to check out Port Townsend in WA. It's a super cute town. We stayed at the Palace Hotel and it's a beautiful renovated Victorian hotel and each room has its own theme. You get breakfast put outside your door every morning.
