Preparing for fall plantings
I know, it's still blazing hot and it's just August. For those of us in the south, when do you start making preparations for your fall garden? Of course, I don't have a lot of space - I have two 3 x 3 raised beds. Currently, my cucumbers and strawberries are in one bed and the tomatoes and peppers are in a another bed.
It feels odd to start yanking out the cucumbers and tomatoes in September because it's still warm enough for them to produce here. I was planning on taking the strawberries out and putting them in planters because I find it easier to harvest them in the planters.
What do you guys normally do when it's time to plant your new crops and you want to get the last little bit of harvest?

Re: Preparing for fall plantings
I took out my lettuce and sugar snap peas to plant my cukes... but I left the beds that had my onions and potatoes mostly free (well the bunnies helped by eating all the eggplant). I just planted beets and sugar snap peas in those beds yesterday morning.
beets are going to be the end of me this year... last year they did so well and this year I can't even get them to sprout.
