May be moving to the area soon

I'm reading on other threads here that Dublin is a good area, but is the south side of Columbus good? Any info/recommendations on school systems?

Re: May be moving to the area soon

  • Hey there! This board is extremely slow, but I pop in from time to time.

Yes, Dublin is a good area. If you are move to Dublin proper and are looking to buy a house, the taxes are very high. I am not so sure about south Columbus, there are some ok areas, but I was raised in northwest Columbus and the suburbs. H brother lives in the Groveport area (not sure about the schools) but it is pretty nice.

Here are some good school districts: Olentangy (where I went & graduated from - just north of Columbus), Worthington (went here as well), Westerville (ok - has declined in recent years), Upper Arlington, Hilliard.

    Hope this helps!

  • I'm more familiar with the same areas as the poster above. I graduated from Upper Arlington and will be raising our family there eventually. Dublin is nice, but a little overdeveloped in my opinion - the traffic up there drives me crazy, but I think it's all a matter of what you're used to. Beautiful homes and a good school district though. I would also consider Worthington, Bexley and Grandview.

  • I agree that Dublin taxes are high and you will pay more in rent/mortgage to live there. Hilliard is a good area if you want to stay on the west side, schools are pretty good there. For the South side of Columbus, I do not recommend Groveport schools. If you go southeast a little to canal winchester and pickerington, you have better schools.
  • I am about 30 minutes outside of Dublin and the areas outside of Dublin tend to be LCOL and the school systems are small and I consider ours to be amazing for as small as it is
