Yes, I know it's a few months away, but I'm a planner. Anyone care to share past costumes or prospective ideas for this year that doesn't necessarily require a miniskirt and knee-high boots? I've already started searching some costume websites but I like hearing creative ideas that people have come up with on their own.
Re: Halloween Costumes
Not sure if you're looking for something to make or buy. But I love the Pyramid Collection for Halloween. They have some sexy things, but several more modest costumes. My favorite right now are the Nile Queen and Tavern Wench, but they have a few other dresses that can be made into something with accessories.

For making your own Martha Stewart has some good ideas

2009: My H (then fiance) was lumiere from beauty and the beast, I was babette (his feather duster/maid girlfriend) He had flickering candle hands and a flickering candle hat, I had a giant feather skirt and homemade feathery gloves, a feather maids hat, a homemade apron, etc. I had a new appreciation for him after he agreed to walk around downtown wearing this obnoxious, flickering gold frock but people loved it.
2008: My H was Mr. Potato Head and I was Mrs. Potato Head. I attached all of our "parts" (eyes, mouth, noses, etc.) with velcro so our friends had fun moving them around all night...I think one of the funniest parts was my friend who made "angry potato" by making angry eyebrows on my H. That one was probably the most fun.
2007: I was a tooth fairy. I did all the traditional fairy stuff and made vampire teeth earrings and had a big tooth necklace. This was literally thought of the night before Halloween so I didn't have too much time to be creative about it.
2006: My ex bf was Steve Irwin and I was a crocodile. He walked around with a net and I glued about a million felt pieces of "crocodile skin" to my shirt and pants, and made a crocodile mouth
2005: My ex was Bob Ross (Hippie painter with the afro) and I was his painting, complete with easel sticks. That one was a lot of fun too. Hope that helps!
