Ok, so who travels to Wooster?? Apparently we picked the weekend that EVERYONE does. I am thanking GOD that I had the foresight to call last Tuesday to get a hotel reservation. Many of the rooms were already booked on Expedia and I found one at the Hampton Inn, the last room there I might add. They had 3 major things going on in the area...football hall of fame induction, golf tournament, and Mennonite rummage sale. There were no rooms on Saturday w/in 60 miles!!
What I didn't know was that the room was going to be $160! I booked it without even asking the price. They didn't take any discounts b/c they knew they didn't have too. That room was more than our room in St. Louis and more than our stay at $10 less than our stay at Ft. Rapids where we had a water park to play at!
DH was so pi$$ed at me, but I didn't care. I stepped one foot into his mom's house and it wreaked so badly of cat pee (mind you the cat has been dead for 18 mos) that I about passed out. Not.kidding. I would have died if we had to stay there overnight. The 3 hrs we were there about killed me as it was. DH never said a word about it and we all just pretended that the house was fine. I wanted start ripping up carpet right there. I don't know how she lives like that. She isn't that way at all in person.
Oh and here is the super-kicker...we have a wedding up there next July and Scott asked his mom to babysit A and #2 for that weekend at her house-which I am ok with her babysitting, but not at her house. WTH am I going to do with my kids roaming around in that place?!
Finally we got out of the house and went to out eat (twice), visited the Smuckers store, and Lehmans (a huge old-timey store). The day wasn't bad at all, minus MILs house. I wanted to check out the rummage sale too, but she was tired. She thankfully came to the hotel and hung out Sunday morning.
We then went to a family reunion for DH on Sunday. It wasn't blazing hot, but I was chasing Alex all over the play equipment while DH visited with family and I was about ready to pass out from heat exhaustion. I swear if I wasn't PG yesterday, I had one bad case of PMS.
So that was the recap of my last weekend of summer before work starts back up.
Sorry this was a whiny-vent-post, but I had to get it off my chest!
Re: F/U what to do near Cleveland
Nevermind...a second read through shows you did mention that!
I'm irritable today, my apologies.
Yeah the golf tournament at Firestone Country Club is the same weekend every year. Not sure about the Hall of Fame thing. But Matt & I go to the golf tournament ever year.
Definitely a VERY busy weekend in Cleveland/Akron/Canton!!!
