What did you end up doing??

Re: How was your weekend?

  • Friday we went to the Amish market for a healthy dinner of smoothies and soft pretzels. Embarrassed L laid down with the kids at bedtime and fell asleep so I cleared out the DVR (Housewives of DC...ugh.)

Saturday - friends flew into town so we met them downtown. We hung out at the hotel for a bit, ate lunch, walked around the Portrait gallery, got ice cream, and headed home with 2 asleep kids. We had a sitter come over (2 weekends in a row!!!) and we met our friends for drinks and dinner. L didn't feel well, so we made it an early night and headed home.

Sunday - we putzed around the house, ran a few errands, picked our friends up at the Metro, went to lunch, came home to play in the sprinkler, grill, hang out, and took them to the airport.

It was a fast - but really good - weekend.

  • Friday we spent the day at an amusement park for a foster event. it was awesome.  weather was perfect and the kids had a blast (rosebud loved the carousel!).  The kids and I had a mellow evening while DW met up with some friends for dinner and drinks.

Saturday we spent the morning at the beach - it was another really nice day. And, I had true appreciation for the ages of our kids b/c they could both entertain themselves and I actually got to read a bit of my book!  Of course, that appreciation quickly ended when sprout had a tantrum, we had to make a quick exit, and he peed in the car (wtf was I thinking not getting a carseat w/ removable padding??).  The upside was that we made it home for nap and sprout and i both slept almost 3 hours - and we both still went to bed at 8.  lovely!

Thanks to the antics at the beach saturday, we cancelled all plans sunday and stayed home.  It was actually quite nice - we got a bunch done around the house, baked some banana bread, and got in another nap.  Rosebud also hit 2 milestones...first, she started crawling and second, she's done w/ the infant carseat and into her convertible.  What a big girl!

all in all, i did a lot of sleeping this weekend :P

  • We had a nice weekend.

We spent a lot of time with my mom which was great, I needed her hugs. We ran some errands, got the girls new dresses for a family party, went to swimming lessons and finalized some things for LMC's party.

I also spent a bunch of time filling out paperwork for LMC's preschool. I felt so mom-like :-) I also emailed our sw some information for our BIG court date a week from today. EEEK!

  • On Friday I worked on FIL's birthday cake.

On Saturday, DW and I had to keep FIL out of the house for 8 hours while the rest of the family set up for his surprise party.  He was really surpised!  It was a great party.

Yesterday DW ended up working more hours than expected so I pruned the plum tree and cleaned the house.  Also, looked for foster care must have's; fire extinguisher, lock box, locking cabinet, etc.

  • My weekend ( and today ) seems like it was all spent with doctors. Friday I took Annie to the doctor for her fever and vomiting. Said it was a virus and they would check her Saturday. Threw up all night Friday. Saturday continued with the fevers and vomiting, doctor said she would see us again Monday.

Saturday Annie wouldn't drink anything all day. After 7 hours with no wet diapers we were set to go to the ER, then she walked up to me and asked for a drink. Gave her a sippy of diluted juice and she drank the whole thing and asked for more. Kept the juice down so we thought we were moving in the right direction.

Sunday she again refused to drink. After 8 hours of no wet diapers and high fever again off to the ER we went. ER doc said he thought it was a virus, but would run blood and a urine just to make me happy. Massive kidney infection. White blood cell count was so high it was 5500 over the critical range. So we got IV fluids and antibiotics.

Today was back to the doctor. More tests coming. She has to have repeat blood work and ultrasounds and a VCUG.

Hopefully she will be on the mend soon and we can have a less eventful weekend next weekend.
