Started no 'poo this weekend

So far so good!  I started yesterday morning.  My hair was awesome yesterday. It feels a bit greasy today, but it doesn't look really greasy/stringy. I have straight hair which tends to look really stringy if I have too much product in it or if it gets oily.  I'm hoping that this works for me long term.

  • Good luck! Sounds like a good start - hope it works for you!! (me, not so much....sniffle.....)

  • Make a commitment to try it for at least 3 weeks... Week 2 was not so nice for me. In the in between time when it just feels greasy gross, the cornstarch baby power is quite helpful.

I've done it for six months now. I've only used regular shampoo a couple of times (if I have gotten seriously dirty working outdoors or at a friends house where there was no baking soda). Once you work out the balance of how much water to baking soda and water to vinegar that works for you, its a breeze.

I have long straight hair and it has so much body is I do my usual baking soda shampoo and vinegar rinse twice a week and wash it out with just water in between and at the gym.

  • I really do want to try to stick it out.  I'm sure it will get worse before it gets better and I don't want to give up.

  • I've been using BS/ACV for almost a year now (started last September).  For the first few months I still had to wash my hair the same amount.  Now I can go 4 days without washing or rinsing as long as I haven't been sweating heavily. Good luck!!

  • I just read about using baking soda as shampoo on a blog. Do you have to mix it before every shower you can you leave in mixed? The lady on the blog said she used an old shampoo bottle, but didn't specify.

  • I have it already mixed but do have to shake well before using it.

Right now I have it premixed in a squeeze bottle. Like the pp said, you do have to shake it well before every use.
