**Pag (Paula)** and anyone else...

I wanted to make sure you saw my post.

Paula,

I think your cakes are awesome and totally agree that you will just keep getting better the more you do it!  Keep it up!!

Let me tell you, I posted pictures of my house on the "Buying a home" board and I was totally flamed and basically told my house was sh*tty.  I don't know what I expected putting it up there, but tons of people responded and not one person said anything positive.  It had me in tears and I was so mad at myself for letting that affect me.  I took a little of the advice, but I have been so emotional about our house being on the market and this just didn't help.  Here it is:

I just thanked everyone for taking their time to check it out and I won't do that again...

You have a talent and it will take time to perfect it, just like anything else.

 Danielle

Re: **Pag (Paula)** and anyone else...

  • Thank you that was so sweet :) I let it get to me for a little bit and then I just let it go and went about my day. I try to stay away from most of the other boards except for whats cooking and health and fitness. The ladies are pretty sweet on those boards. I have learned though if you are going to talk with complete strangers on the internet you have to have pretty tough skin because ladies can be extremely rude with the anonomity (is that even a word? lol) of a screen name. It turns out when I got home yesterday DH told me that everyone absolutely loved the cake and his bosses couldn't believe that I made the design out of fondant on the cake myself. He also said that everyone thought the cake tasted better than publix :)

  • By the way your house looks great... it seems like some of them were at least trying to be constructive though but some of them were really rude.

  • I replied to Paula yesterday - that burned me up...what gives people the right to be so nasty? Oh - I forgot - they are anonymous - which means they can be as cowardly as they like...

And let me tell you - that is one good looking house, and the area and property look terrific! Where I live in MD, a house like that, in an equal area would easily be on the market for twice that much, if not more...believe me, I know! You can't get a decent house in the Baltimore area with good space/size and land to speak of for less than 250-300k it seems...we learned that the hard way when we bought our home 5 years ago...pay those evil trolls not one bit of mind, and good luck selling your home :-)

  • And yeah - I pretty much stay away from the other boards except this one and the Baltimore Nestie/Knot boards...I've found that when people do bother to comment, it's usually something rude or snarky :-)

  • Danielle,

I think the house looks great!  I agree that the clashing colors in the living room are a bit weird but those are all just cosmetic issues aka something easily changeable by somebody who is interested in the house.  I personally wouldn't paint the kitchen cabinets white.  What if somebody likes the natural wood color?  I guess to each his/her own.    I've got my fingers crossed that you get more interest in it.  Hang in there dear!

  • HAHA i like the one poster who says "get rid of the dish towel on the fridge, it makes the house look cluttered" - oh yeah your house is just an absolute mess because of that fricken towel!!!!!!!  my god!!!  these girls are unbelievable!!!!

moral of the story - don't talk to strangers - stick to April 2010 girls!! Big Smile

Oh they justify it by saying thngs like, "you posted on a public forum so I/we have the right to flame you as much as we want." Believe me I was on the flamed end a couple of weeks ago (under anothter screen name) b/c I pointed out on another board that people didn't need to be so judgemental & just offer advice or insight to the question at hand. You would have thought that I had gone to their homes & pooped in their mail box or something. Geez. So much for giving friendly advice.

Paula -- keep baking and I will keep trying to sell my house...

  • You know what it is, I think alot of these women are stay home moms married to millonaires and they cut everyone down because we don't have million dollar homes with personal decorators and million dollar cars and Burberry outfits on their 7 kids.  Nice way to make them feel better about themselves is to cut down us common folk who actually bust our ass for what we have.
