I have to do two posts today since I was out of the office most of yesterday and didn't get to do my post.
This past Sunday, for the first time in my life I ate sausage. I never tried it before because of a smell issue I had with it, but the ladies at the farmers market recommended their sausage to me. Sooo, I tried it, and enjoyed it.
What are some food items that for whatever reason, you've just never had before? What is your reason for avoiding it/them?
Did you have any foods that you didn't think you'd like, but someone MADE you try it, and now you really enjoy it?
If you could eat one thing every day, and it would magically provide you with all your nutrients and never make you heavy, what would you eat?
Re: Foods you've never had...
Something I've never tried.... sardines. They just aren't appealing to me.
Something I now enjoy.... greek yogurt and hummas. Love them both.
I finally tried a peanut butter and jelly sandwich a years ago. I still only prefer just peanut butter though. I'm not a huge jelly fan on sandwiches.
One thing that I could eat everyday... hands downs... pizza.
Something I've never tried....seafood. of any kind. I cannot get past the smell of things like crabs and lobster. I grew up thirty minutes from the Inner Harbor of Baltimore and crabs are abundant in our area but I just couldn't get past the smell.
Something I now enjoy...I'm now addicted to asparagus. I randomly tried it while we were out to dinner one night and I'm now addicted to it lol
One thing I could eat everyday....still is ice cream. Good old fashioned vanilla ice cream.
I've never had caviar. I know it's expensive and it seems like when things are expensive and they are served somewhere, people get offended if you don't like it. And if you ask me if I like something I'm not going to lie if you didn't make it personally. So I'd rather just not try it and not have to put on a face that I like it when really it seems kind of nasty.
Something I now enjoy - Guacamole. The color used to gross me out. I used to hate all beans but I've come around to using them sparingly in dishes.
One thing that I could eat everyday - French fries!!!!!!!!!!!!I've never had liver and can pretty much promise I never will. Just the idea makes me shiver.
Same as Terp, I've recently aquired a love of guacamole which I never liked before. It was actually on our honeymoon in Mexico where DH made me try some super fresh guac and I was hooked.
As for my everyday dish it would totally be pizza.
Something I've never tried.... beets. No one has ever served them to me and I haven't felt like testing them out at home.
Something I now enjoy.... brussel sprouts.I just tried them for the first time about a year and a half ago and I really, really like them. DH really, really doesn't though!
One thing that I could eat everyday...it is a toss up between peanut butter and bacon.
Something I now enjoy.... Greek yogurt, cabbage, Indian food
One thing that I could eat everyday...Pad Thai
Something I've never tried.... raw sushi
Something I now enjoy.... hmm.. I'm drawing a blank.
One thing that I could eat everyday...pizza or cake
And as far as beets go, I'll spoil it for you--they taste like dirt. Seriously! Blech.
My brown eyed girl. :-)
I have never had escargot and do not really have any desire to try it.
I did not used to like sushi or was afraid to try it, but I love it now.
One thing I could eat everyday... I will go with ice cream.
Thanks for letting me in on that secret about beets! For some reason I found it hilarious too!!
As far as food I've never tried...I'll try pretty much everything once, but I've never had caviar or escargot..just because I've never had the chance
I recently acquired a taste for hummus which I use to hate, but DH turned me on to it, and I was afraid to try calamari, but I love it now.
As for every day....probably cereal or bacon.
