Invitation help

I need help with invitation wording because I don't want people to talk about me on a message board Stick out tongue

Here's the background info: My aunt wants to throw my mom a surprise birthday party this month except my mom's birthday isn't until November. She also wants it to be a luau party. I'm having a difficult time with the wording. I need something that goes after "her birthday isn't until November" that ties together the luau part. Here is what I have so far:

The sun is hot,
the water's cool.
Won't you join us
as we party in the pool?
Her birthday isn?t until November,

We're having a luau party!
We want you to come.
mom is turning 60!
Surprising her will be fun!

No gifts necessary.

Regrets only

Re: Invitation help

  • But we wanted you to remember?

That's the only word I can really think of that even approximately rhymes with November.

  • That could work. Now I need votes. Which one?

    A

    The sun is hot,
    the water's cool.
    Won't you join us
as we party in the pool?
    Her birthday isn?t until November,
and we wanted you to remember,

    we're having a luau party!
    We want you to come.
    mom is turning 60!
    Surprising her will be fun!

    or B

    The sun is hot,
    the water's cool.
    Won't you join us
as we party in the pool?
We wanted you to remember,                            Her birthday isn?t until November,
so we're having a luau party
and we want you to come.
    mom is turning 60!
    Surprising her will be fun!

    I vote B.

  • This changes the meter and rhyme scheme, but how about something along the lines of this:

    Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;}

    The sun is hot,
    the water's cool.
    Won't you join us
for a party in the pool?

    Mom?s turning 60 in November,

But for a birthday to remember

We?re planning an early luau surprise!

    So say you can come

    For this birthday fun

As we celebrate ?til sunrise! [or] with all her favorite guys!

(The last line still needs work.)

  • Out of the two you have I like the second one better.

I do like how SunnyDaze turned it into "for a birthday to remember"....I think that may be the best wording if you can figure out something for the last line.
  • I like that much better. Thanks
