When making root beer floats, do you add the soda or the ice cream first? DH & I can't decide which way worked better. (We actually made purple cows! grape soda w/ vanilla ice cream!)

I always put my icecream in first because it makes a little frosty topping )

I think we typically put the ice cream in first, but I am not sure if it really matters.

We do ice cream first.  But I have to admit I eat mine seperately.  For some reason I'm not a fan of the half rootbeer/half ice cream foamness.

Wow, I can't remember the last time I've had a root beer float, it has to have been at least 10 years, probably closer to 15. I've never heard of purple cows, interesting!  Anyway, when I made root beer floats, I added the ice cream first.  Mainly b/c then don't have to worry about the liquid splashing out when adding ice cream to root beer.

Another vote for ice cream first.  A root beer float sounds really yummy!!

OMG!! I Love root beer floats!! I put the ice cream in first because I can then slowly add the root beer to it! i hate u for this post...i have root beer but no vanilla ice cream!
