Our pup had to get booster shots today, one of them was the distemper shot, which is supposed to be one of the most painful for them. When the Vet gave him the shot he cried bloody murder for a good minute afterwards, so of course I burst into tears
I felt so silly, but I couldn't help it. Now that we are home he won't walk, and just yelps in pain. I called the Vet back to make sure everything is ok and he said he should be feeling better tomorrow, but meanwhile I feel so bad! I don't remember our other dog being in this much pain after vaccines, just a few whimpers here and there. I put him in his bed and closed our bedroom door so that he could be peaceful and rest, I just hate feeling like there is nothing I can do! Lord help me when I have children!!!
Re: I feel so helpless : (
Awww... I did the same thing when my youngest kitten had to get some shots. As soon as she made a noise, I had tears in my eyes!
When she came home from surgery after being fixed, I felt like crap for a few weeks... even though I know it was best for her. Seeing that shaved belly and wrist was so sad!
Your pup will be fine, and will be healthier for you taking such good care of him!
Aww poor pup! I hate seeing my cats in pain I burst into tears at the mere thought of them hurting.
Give him lots of love and hopefully he feels better soon!
Our pup was the same way after he got his first shots too. It was SO sad. He would cry if we picked him up and wouldn't go anywhere except lay on the couch. He felt much better the next day!
You can give them benadryl but only like half of the small children's tabs. We did that once.
I would do a quarter tab then because ours is 7.5 pounds and that's what we started off with.
Brody has horrendous allergies (he gets allergy injections at home...that bad) and we give him 100 mg of benadryl a day....he is 60lbs. It's totally safe, but the first time we gave it to him he was about 15lbs and only a half a pill...totally knocked the little guy out! Doesn't phase him one bit now Not sure the dosage on the 3.5lb baby though....
Aw, poor baby! I get it though, I get overly worried about my kittens.
For example, this morning at 5AM my little one Pica decided to crawl behind an open drawer (Nick's drawer might I add) - she does this every once in a while when a drawer is left open. Once she gets behind there, she can't get back out. She cries and gets scared. We have a stubborn dresser that has impossible drawers to get out. So this morning I'm trying to get the darn drawer off and she's getting more stressed and I can hear in her meow she's scared. By the time I got her free I was in tears because I hate hearing her cry like that.
