Mac Vs PC

Hey ladies! 

I am starting grad school within the next couple of weeks and hubby and I are looking into getting a new laptop.  What do you guys have?  Do you like what you have?

I have 3 Sony Vaio laptops, all are a different age, model, size, and operating system (XP, Vista, Win 7). I haven't had any major problems with the brand, they are more on the pricey side though. They are just the style I am drawn to, lol.

I'm a Mac girl (just switched last year), and I love my Macbook Pro!  It's very user-friendly and very powerful (I am also in grad school and use it extensively).  it is pricey though, I got funding from the National Institute of Health, which gave me the $$ for a Mac!  Good luck!

I have a Dell Studio 15 an I start grad school in a couple of weeks. I just got this laptop a couple of weeks ago and it works great. I was on the fence between that and a Macbook Pro 15 in. But I just couldn't justify paying literally twice the price for the same specs. It is a little better price wise if you get a 13 in but those computers are way too small for me.

Also I would check with the IT dept at your school. Sometimes they won't help on Apple computers and only help with PCs.

I have a mac and i love it it just took some getting used to in terms of how its set-up and what not. I had 2 dell laptops while in college that both died slow painful deaths.....

ha ha, my Dell in college died instantly every couple of weeks, but was resurrected with the pricy 4-year warranty!

We were looking last night and my school discounts Apple and Dell, plus a few others.  Mac's discount is like $50 off the 13inch macbook...off of the least expensive/most juiced up dell the discount is over $100...plus the cost is almost half of the macbook, and the specs are better (i.e. more RAM etc).  I really want a macbook..but...if I do get it...it wont leave me much room to get Office for it or any other add ons or extra warranty.  :-( 

Thank you for all of your insight!    I might just have to bight the bullet and finance some of the MAC if that's what we decide on getting.

ditto on the Sony's... this is my second Vaio in almost 6 years... i love the style, i love the 1080p capabilities and Blu-Ray player.  My DH got his first Vaio a year and half ago  and is also hooked... I'm a bit of a Sony addict (cell phone, TV, PS3...)  

i'm not really into Mac's or Apple products in general...

I have a Dell which is a POS, I hate it. DH is a total Machead and has already told me my next computer will be a Mac. If you have any questions, he can answer them...he's helped several friends/family members with ordering and what specs to get.

PS....I know we made dinner plans...is that for Sunday? I'm thinking it is, but my memory is horrible lol. Email me!
