Fundraising ideas?!?! Any suggestions?
My women's auxiliary is trying to come up with creative fundraisers. Any ideas/suggestions? Something that doesn't take alot of money to start up, but that pays a great return.
Any ideas you can provide are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Best is a yard or garage sale. Ask friends to donate items over a week...offer to pick up the items. You will be amazed at what you get.
Car wash, bake sale, I know its early but you could think about doing a Christmas tree sale...you work with a tree broker, which we knew of one from a personal contact.
They sell you the trees for a per tree rate; you mark up the trees according to the going rate in your area. They were all 5-6 feet trees and people could order either a fir or Douglas.
Tell the broker how many you pre-sold. Then a container gets dropped off with the trees, so you obviously need a parking lot or empty lot. We had the P/U on a Friday and Saturday (we did the 1st week in Dec.) with free hot chocolate and cookies.
We did this for our youth group and made about $1,000.
Our kids loaded them up in the cars and tied them down.
Very minimal work for the return.
We did a cook book last year at work and raised about $10k. We charged $5 if people pre-ordered and $10 afterwards.
It took a bunch of time to put the cookbooks together and the printer materials and supplies were donated (tax write off).
I know it's not as unique or "touch of home" as things such as crafts or baked goods or a yard/rummage sale, but there's a company that makes really good salsa and they do fundraising. They're based out of Ohio. www.josemadridsalsa.com
You could do the 'You've Been Flocked' thing. It's sort of a southern thing where people can pay to "flock" someone for their birthday = their age in plastic pink flamingos in their front yard. Then whoever is flocked must pay to have the flock moved somewhere else! It's a fun little game, and most people are so happy they've been flocked that they want to pay it forward
.
You could also have a Christmas Tour of Homes for canned food or donations, but that would be on down the road.
Fireworks stand is a huge $$ maker - if you are allowed fireworks in your state/city.
We have had lots of success with sports tournaments as well - on a smaller scale, a frisbee golf tournament - larger scale, golf tournamment. You could also do bowling.
Other ideas that we have done...
Scrapbooking night
Outdoor Movie
Water sales at parades/festivals
Tulip stand
Coupons at the grocery store (you tape the coupons to the products & people can use them or donate them to your cause)
