    Possible reasons:

    1. Some plum species take several years to produce.

    2. When in flower, the weather is too windy or rainy for pollination to occur.

    3. Freeze occurs during flowering (common in early bloomers like plum).

    4. Lack of pollinator insects/too much insecticide used in the area (not necessarily by you).

  • I bet it's a combo of 1 threw 3.  Thanks!  I was worried that I needed a second plum tree or something.

Although plums are self-pollinating, it does help to have other plums nearby. This is true of all self-pollinators. It even works in animals: hens lay more eggs when exposed to roosters, etc.

    Wink
