This is why we can't have nice things..

One of the covers to my nice pans was on an electric burner which was turned on.  So you know where this is going....any suggestions to getting it looking nicer.

Apparently I'm not old enough for grown up pans.  :(

Re: This is why we can't have nice things..

  • THe only thing I can think of is baking soda and water.  I do this to pans I can't get clean.  Boil the baking soda and water for a while in the pan and the pan gets clean.  Not sure if this will work in this case with more of a burn mark though.  You could put the lid on the pan while boiling and the baking soda residue may help clean it off.
  • I think Joy's suggestion sounds pretty good, but I really just wanted to chime in and say how funny I think this post was...sometimes I don't feel mature enough to have a home and nice things either LMAO, glad I am not alone!!!!
  • I tell you, between my fancy now rust spotted knife and my fancy (burnt) pan I'm feeling pretty silly!

Glad I'm not the only one.

Hopefully you guys don't cast me into Nestie oblivion for ruining my new shiny nice things!!

  • Welcome to the club!  LOL!

My knives and pans are doing A-OK, but my plates and bowls are quite another story...

  • I love the fact that I left some old pans and knifes out for Pete so he wouldn't ruin our nice new stuff....:)

My dishes are in great shape and I still have most of the place settings packed away.

I'd like to get my own kitchen in order this weekend, but I'm headed up to Penacook to help organize another kitchen (Again!)

     :)

  • I love the title of this post...at the station we have one guy who whenever anything breaks says this!  It always make me laugh!
  • I have no solution to your burn problems, but wanted to say that I also cannot have nice things. We have cheap-o IKEA dishes and bowls and probably 1/4 of them have scratches and chunks broken off. Our pots and pans are crap. I am sort-of (but not really too much) thankful we didn't get our place settings and fancy pots and pans for our wedding. It would be nice, but whatever. I'd probably destroy them anyway.
  • Barkeeper's Friend is non-abrasive, you might have luck with that too.

  • ellen's suggestion of Barkeeper's Friend is spot on...  that's the only product i ever recommend for any sort of metal cleaning task.  it's relatively cheap (maybe 5-6 a bottle) and will last you years.  i use it to get heat spots off my stainless steel cookware fairly often.  it shines them up like new in a matter of seconds.  well worth the investment!  i have the liquid squeeze bottle but this is a picture of the powder version since i can't find a pic of mine online.  if you have a glass stovetop, they also make a cleaner for that which i have and love.
