Milky Spore/Milky Disease
Has anyone treated their lawns to get rid of the grubs that turn into Japanese beetles? We have tons of them in our lawn and think it might be why our grass doesn't look great. Looking for recommendations on where you bought it and how you applied it. We have about 3/4 acre. Thanks!
Re: Milky Spore/Milky Disease
We did, but be aware that it's not an instant fix...it takes a few years for the spores to spread & kill them. We applied last year & I think we've had less Japanese beetle damage.
We just followed the directions on the container for application. Oh, and we bought it at a local nursery (not HD or Lowe's, a real nursery)
I used it when I first moved into my house; following the application directions on the product. I had product left over so I treated the neighbors yards too.
It has been very effective for me- I haven't seen a Japanese Beetle since that first year (and I had plenty) HOWEVER I also removed all the plants that attract Japanese Beetles (roses and hibiscus) at the same time I treated the soil. My neighbors don't have hibiscus or Crape Myrtle or anything else super attractive to JBs, but one neighbor has roses out the yinyang. Don't think she has a big problem with them.
I just planted something I know they love (Cannas) and so far, so good; but we'll see what happens next summer.
