Annoyed

Sorry I feel like I've been full of negative posts today!

But my daycare lady just posted on FB: Am I the only one baking cookies inside an A/C free home today?

I'm annoyed because it's 86 degrees out today.  And I feel like every freaking day this summer when I have picked up T he has been hot and sweaty.

Seriously?  What the eff is your problem?  Your house is hot enough as it is.  Please do not make it hotter while my baby is over.  Grrr.   Angry

I normally really like her but I am switching daycares soon so at least I won't have to deal with this for much longer.

Re: Annoyed

  • Ok I just re-read and I sound really mad over something stupid.  Ha.

It just makes me sad that he is probably baking right along with those cookies!

  • Eh, if it was my kid, I'd probably be right there with you.  However, babies have been surviving in houses without A/C for thousands of years and probably still do in a lot of places.  The oven probably only heats up the house a degree or two and doesn't make much difference.
  • I'd be mad for making an already hot house hotter and a bit annoyed at her being on Facebook while caring for my baby.

I own a daycare and we have 3 hours a day where the kids are sleeping and we are on FB and other sites catching up.  I don't see an issue with that.

I would be upset though if she was making the house hotter on an already hot day just for cookies, especially if he is already sweaty when you pick him up.  Does she not have a/c or does she just chose to not use it?

  • First, I love that you backed off this a bit.

I don't think it's that big of a deal.  I didn't have AC growing up.  I'm sure the kids were happy to be warmer for a bit and then have a cookie.

I'd ask where yours is. ;)

  • I'm assuming she was doing this while the kids were sleeping, but there is no way I'd heat my house up just for cookies... it was 86* and 3,000% humidity today! This would definitely be a No Bake Cookie day for me ;o)

  • I'm somewhat ok with her being on FB while babysitting.  Assuming it's during naptime, or limited -- ie 15 minutes to update things vs 3 hrs on farmville.

I'm not sure how i'd feel about the baking while no ac.  I've never lived without ac, although, I try to limit the use.  I usually bake right before bed, because we sleep in a different side of the house than the kitchen.

I do agree with pp that the kids, especially older ones, would love the fresh baked cookies.

It was flippin hot yesterday - inside and outside her house.  But she took him through the sprinklers to cool him down, which he absolutely loved.

And I don't mind her being on FB.  She's definitely not on it all day long.

She doesn't have central.  I think she should invest in a window unit, but who am I to tell her what to do.  Stick out tongue

  • Eek!  She needs to at least get a window one for the room the kids are in the most!!  Glad you got a cookie out of the deal!!
