  • I'm a -5, too. I'm fairly certain it was the "cooks on pjs" and "wears old stained clothes" and "gossips" questions that did me in ;o)

You are definitely not the only one to laugh at that! I giggled, too.

  • When my aunt got married, she had a surgery shortly after, and her mother in law gave her a book.  Something like "how to be the happy wife of a happy husband".  It was full of these types of things.

I got two books about being a good wife at my bridal shower.  I started reading one of them, but didn't get very far (like maybe page 15).  The other, I never read a word of it.

Did anyone else get books like this at their showers?  I was surprised, because I didn't expect to receive anything like this.

Ack.  I think our priest gave us some vow options that had something to do with being a good wife.  I nixed those.  Ick!

Kasa - were they possibly meant as a joke?

No, I'm sure they weren't meant to be a joke.  I just pulled them off my bookshelf for the first time in years.

For Women Only -- this is the one that I read a few pages of.  It says it's all about men, but what I read was about how wives need to look pretty and shave their legs and whatnot because that makes men happy.  My cousin got me this book, I think.

The Most Important Year in a Man/Woman's Life -- I never even opened this book and neither did my husband.  I forgot that it's half for men and half for women.  I don't remember who got this one for me either.

It's amazing that I have a successful marriage, considering I haven't read these how-to guides.  Stick out tongue

  • Apparently I'm a horrible wife. I got -13!

Lol, Molly. If those were the vows we used, they also talk about how to be a good husband.

  • "dainty, perfumed and feminine..."  hee hee.

    -7 here too.

Kasa, I did not receive any book like that.  I am kind of amazed those are still in print.

Although, I didn't select "active in a women's organization" - does the Nest count? ;-)
