Discovery Channel Planet Green

I wish I got this, but I checked and I don't :(

I saw a clip from a show and it looked neat.. it's too bad my cable co doesn't have it.  Anyone have this, see any shows?

Re: Discovery Channel Planet Green

  • I'm in LOVE with the Fabulous Beekman Boys, but I've also seen some episodes on re-runs on TLC here and there.  I also love Living with Ed.  There are some other shows that I've seen that I enjoy, but if I see either of those on, I'll always flip to them.  The others are more hit or miss.  They show a lot of different documentaries--which can be good and bad.  Like many EF things, a lot of the "realities" of life aren't rainbows and puppy dogs.  Sometimes I have to be in the mood to want to watch some of the heavier stuff.

We have it right now because DirectTV is having their "free preview" months of their slightly more expensive package than what we have now.   It's the only channel I really miss when the previews are over.

  • I also love the Fabulous Beekman Boys!  My other favorite is Emeril Green.  He does a cooking show on site at a local Whole Foods helping a viewer buy the right products and teaches them how to cook 3-4 different things.  Even my husband who hates to cook, wants to be on the show!

There are a ton of cute/EF shows like Living with Ed and Wa$ted.

Ditto the pp on the documentaries.  I generally skip over those b/c I really have to be in the mood to watch something that heavy.

  • I get it.  We have Verizon Fios.

The programming is kind of up and down.  I love Living with Ed, but then sometimes they air What Not to Wear and other shows that don't seem to fit the Planet Green profile at all.

They used to broadcast an Emeril cooking show that took place at WF's or one of those types of stores and emphasized using local/ organic/ or humane sourced ingredients.  I loved that and miss it.  :(

I agree about the documentaries.  They can be informative, but I've seen some that try to push for a happy ending of hope when it's just not that simple.

They seem to be putting less of their programming On Demand, which is disappointing.

Emeril Green- that's what it's called.  It used to be on every night, and I never see it anymore!

  • i love this channel. the fabulous beeckman boys, living with ed. they also have a show called future food where chefs have to cook if the current food supply runs out. like if there is no more seafood how will the be able to create something like seafood.

  • i have verizon fios also, and get this channel.   i love living with ed, and wa$ted is pretty cool too.  i never seem to catch the fabulous beekman boys, but it looks like it might be good.  i agree about the documentaries being a little heavy, but i have seen a few good ones.

unfortunately, they tend to repeat the same shows over and over, so i haven't been watching much of the channel lately  =(
