UT/FL Game

I'm fairly new to Nashville, and DH and I are going to Knoxville this weekend for the football game. Is there anything that we would want to stop and see between Nashville and there? Are there specific tailgating rules/places to go?

We're staying at the Hilton - any good rec's for bars/restaurants in that  area?

Re: UT/FL Game

  • Are you going there via I-40 or 1-24 through Chattanooga?

    ?

If you go I-40 there is absolutely nothing between Nashville & Knoxville. If you go I-24 then you can stop off in Chattanooga. There are a lot of things to do there, but that would be more of a day trip!?

    ?

Are you a Vols fan or a Gators fan? It is always total chaos there on game day! I don't know about any rules for tailgaiting. It pretty much seems like anything goes there! ?

  • Cookeville is almost half way between here and Knoxville.  All you can see from the interstate is a strip of restaurants and gas stations. We always use it as a pit stop.  There is also a small outlet mall past Nashville in Lebanon. However nothing touristy between the two cities.

The Hilton is close to Market square. http://www.knoxvillemarketsquare.com/

They have several restaurants and a couple of bars.  I recommend Nama for sushi and Bistro at the Bijou for American cuisine.  Tomato Head has a really good brunch on Sundays however it tends to get crowded so expect a wait.

If you can't get in to Tomato Head you can try Sunspot located on the strip.

I've always tailgated on the strip but you will see tons of tailgating from the stadium towards cumberland drive.

    Have fun and go VOLS!

  • Thanks for the suggestions ladies!
