When would you buy the gift?

A friend is having her first baby around Halloween.  She's not having a shower (by her choice). So at what point in the pregnancy would you buy her a gift if you wanted to get one pre-birth off her registry?

I would probably get one at any time after she registered.  Do you know if she has the nursery done yet? I might wait until she has that done, too. That way she doesn't have to find a place to store it until the nursery is done.

If a shower is held, it's usually 6-8 weeks before the due date. For example, a friend of mine is due October 18 and her shower is August 28. So, I would say end of August on and you're good.

4-6 weeks.  I hear that is when people start really getting things ready for the baby, taking inventory of what they still need, etc.  Then again my shower will be held when my child is 5 months old so.... ::shrug::

4-6 weeks like pp's said. Although if you know she has her registry finished you could buy a gift anytime. My shower was the end of March and Ayden was born the end of April.
