Chattanooga sending Hellos!

After stopping by this board off and on, I am finally taking the time to say hello! My name is Kassie, and I live in the Chattanooga area. My husband and I have lived here for 5 1/2 years. I am orginially from Maryville, TN & he is from Cleveland, TN. Met in college & ended up here. I didn't see hardly any (or none at all) nesties from this area. But, if you are out there it would be great to meet some new people around the area! We have come to the conclusion that we live a boring life! LOL

A little bit about me - I'm 27 and currently working on my Master's in Counseling at UT-Chattanooga. We enjoy hanging out on the lake and are huge UT fans. Currently we do not have any kids just a sweet puppy. Well, now that I have pimped us out :)...hope everyone has a great weekend!

Re: Chattanooga sending Hellos!

  • So, I'm not sure that I've ever wandered into the local board before, but I couldn't sleep and decided to tonight, and I've got to tell you I'm nearly shocked to see someone so close to me!.  I am also in the Chatt area, McDonald actually, so right between you and Cleveland.  Living in McDonald equates to living in Cleveland, so I usually just claim that because hardly anyone has a clue that McDonald exists! Smile Where did your DH go to school? DH and I have both been here our whole lives so it's possible we may recognize him.

We both also went to UTC, (we were high school sweethearts) and got our undergrad's in 12/2007, and I finished my Masters in Accountancy last June.

Long post short, I live near you and went to school where you do, so HI!

ETA: I just noticed you originally posted 2 days ago, so apparently this board is not very active Sad.  I'm usually over at the D&R board, which is usually pretty active, so feel free to stop in over there sometime.

  • Well hello McDonald! Yes, I know exactly where that is. We actually live in Ooltewah and drive through there going to Cleveland sometimes. DH graduated from Cleveland in 1998 - last name is Varnell. (Yes, like Varnell Nursery LOL).

Yes, this board is not very active at all. It's great to know someone lives  near me though LOL!  It seems to be a more Nashville dominated board.

Do you and your DH hang out in Chattanooga much?

  • My husband and I moved to Chatt not long ago. I'm starting at UTC on Monday! I can't wait! I've never been on the local board (well, actually I just discovered the local boards now, haha) but it's awesome to see Chattanooga people!

So, I have to ask, what is there to really do in Chatt? We can't find much of anything except that $3 movie theater, which is nice.

  • What to do in Chattanooga... Well, I guess that depends on what you are up for! H & I really like to go downtown and discover things. Like right now they are doing Riverfront Nights at Ross's Landing. It's just a fun music fest (very lowkey). It just started last weekend. Aug 28th is the Brewer's Festival. It is still fun even if you don't drink. Rhythm & Brew's - they have up up & coming artists & cover bands. Chattanooga Market is every Sunday at the First TN Pavalion. Lots of different kinds of restaraunts to try that are fun & good :) UTC football games are coming up - if you guys like football. Do you guys get the Newspaper? On Friday's they have a "Weekend" section with what's going on - really good. Oh, the Comedy Catch in Brainerd is really good. Trust me, it took us a couple years to figure out what was out there! :)

What will you be studying at UTC?

  • See, that's more than I thought there was! We don't get the newspaper, but I may look into if there's a whole section on things to do. I'll be studying to become an RN. And we're not huge sports people, but I love the atmosphere of football games! We'll have to check it out! And Chattanooga market, is that where locals sell their goods and all that fun stuff? I may have to check that out if so!
  • Yes, the market is for only local made or home-grown stuff. They have a different theme each week.

  • DH and I don't do much in Chattanooga.  I have to go downtown for work every day, so by the weekend I'd rather stay a little closer to home.  DH also usually has to work on the weekends so that pretty much stops it right there.

I definitely know Varnell Nursery, but DH and I went to Bradley, so no luck there.  :)  He's also a little farther ahead of us than I thought.  We are 25 and 26, but we graduated in 2003.  Since he went to Cleveland, I'm guessing he went to a city school for elementary?  I have family that live in the same area as the Nursery so they're pretty familiar with the kids that went to Prospect.

  • Yeah, he turned 30 this year. I kept saying "I never thought I would be married to a 30 yr old!"...ha. He has a little sister who graduated in 2004, but she went to Cleveland also. I think they all went to city schools.
  • Okay, I know this thread was started a while back, but I felt I needed to respond! :) My husband and I also live near Ooltewah/Cleveland area in Birchwood. We're newly weds (17 days!) We've both lived in the Chattanooga area our whole lives. Just wanted to say hi!
  • Wow. You guys are really close to where I live! I live in north Ooltewah...almost in Georgetown. I don't have a lot of free time with work & school though. I am living in a farmhouse on 600 acres.
  • 600 acres! wow.. that must be really nice! I would love to have that kind of land. I understand able not having free time. I finally graduated in December, and it is so nice not to have homework and studying to do. :)
  • Hello All!

My husband and I moved to Chattanooga about 7 months ago (Ooltewah specifically). We really do love it here! Moved from dreary Michigan! The weather is beautiful and we embrace the HOT summer weather. We have met a few couples in the area but we are always looking to meet new people. We have beem married alomst 2 years (well 2 years on Monday!!). We are a very easy going social couple! We like to go out to local restaurants/pubs as well as have bonfires at our house.

It would be great to meet some new people!

    Hope to hear from ya'll!

  • Ooo! I love the Chattanooga Market!

     Hello fellow Chattanooga Nesties!

I moved to Chattanooga a little over a year ago - and so thankful for it! I met my Husband here, and we just got married at the beginning of Nov.

I'm a Student of Biology at UTC, but I'm gong to have to find a full time job this upcoming year.

I could definitely use some awesome girls to have fun with on the occasional weekend.

  • I do not usually get on here but I happened to be looking at the blog and I just wanted to say hello. I have to say that it is crazy to see Birchwood on here. I didn't know anyone knew where that was lol. I am a teacher at Birchwood Elementary School:). I am 24 and my husband is 26. We moved here in May and have not met too many people. We love going downtown and going to the market. We have a dog named Penny and she is like a child to us. Well anyways thats all about us for now.

  • Oh... I love Birchwood! We are actually looking to possibly buy a house there. (We are renting now!) But... get me away from the city & hustle & bustle! I love the country life!

I'm a nursing student there! I kinda wish I lived on campus so I didn't have to deal with the parking issues!

  • Hello!

My husband and I moved to Chattanooga a couple of years ago. We met in Atlanta, and were married in May of '09. Chattanooga is my hometown, but after being away for so long I sortof lost touch with people I used to hang out with. I work at UTC at the Graphic and Mail Department. I love working there, and am looking to finish my degree in Social Work (Non-Profit Administration) and from there, who knows?  We live in Hixson, bought our house in April, and are searching for couples to hang out with.

I hope you and your husband are enjoying Chattanooga. I have always loved it here, and now its even better with all of the renovations and changes.

  • HEY! I'm from Chattanooga. My husband and I have lived here my entire life and I am actually new to this site but excited to meet new people! We say we live a boring life as well because we hardly ever do anything. We have no kids.. just a dog that we treat like a child. l0l! We don't really have any married friends and it's hard to relate to anyone or have anyone to talk to about marriage. We have been together four years and married for a year in June. I'd love to speak to you!
  • Wow - it's so exciting to actually see Chattanooga nesties on here!  I live in Ringgold, but we spend almost all our time in Chattanooga - that's where MH and I both work, go to church, it's where our friends live, etc.  For those of you who have dogs, have you checked out the dogparks in the area?  We spend at least one day every weekend at Greenway in Hixson with our dog park friends.

We really ought to organize a local GTG and meet up.  Anyone interested?

  • I live in Cleveland.. you girls should PM me and we can hang out.  I have no mom or married friends!!

I hang out on 3-6... let me know!

  • Hey Niki! I just read your post (I actually started this thread and never got back to it). Where in Ooltewah do you live? We live off of Hunter Rd.
  • Hi there! I live near Chattanooga...my new husband and I live in Ringgold, GA (about 15 minutes from downtown Chatt). Everything we do is in Chattanooga pretty much. We just got married June 12, so I'm interested in meeting other married couples!

    -Lisa

  • Would love to form or join a group for us that live near Chattanooga...I live in Ringgold too! Let me know if there's already a group set up.

    -Lisa

  • hey lisa... as far as i know i dont think there is a group set up in chattanooga. i dont like that i cant get email alerts when someone posts on here. (or if you can im not sure how). so i just have to check back here randomly. ...maybe we should start a facebook page?

  • Hi All,

A little delayed on the bandwagon, but I'm Madison - my husband and I have been in the CHA area since 2008, and live in E. Brainerd. We just had our first baby girl in December! I work in the Dean of Students Office @ UTC and my husband is at TVA.

    Enjoy the weekend!
