We just left my cousin's in VA Beach. An area that I would think would be pretty desirable. He lives in a quiet, family oriented, older neighborhood a few miles from the beach in a cute rancher with a nice yard (small but big enough for me). Why are there no neighborhoods like this in Maryland? He said the houses are around 200k. We seriously need to move. My work has a location there...
Re: Housing woes
I totally understand!! I absolutely love the town we live in, we currently rent, and I pray every time I look at real estate websites that by some miracle a great, affordable place will be there waiting for me in my town.
We could move farther into the burbs which be would be an hour and half from the city for something bigger, more affordable and in our price range but I really don't want to move that far out...we shall see, we may just have to bite the bullet.
I feel you - when I lived in Arlington, the townhouses on my street were $700K and you couldn't get a one bedroom condo for $200K.
My sister used to live in VA Beach and now lives in Norfolk and loves it (I realize this probably isn't helping you!) Seriously though - they bought a house in what can be considered a super nice neighborhood in Norfolk and it was just over $200K. This was 7 years ago, but still!
I do not even want to discuss this. Samantha has be taunting me with real estate all week. I've seen listings for 6,000sq ft houses in Louisville that are selling for LESS than what we're asking for our 1,100sq ft apartment.

I hate NYC. Real estate, that is. Anyone interested in a pied-a-terre?
I survived the RoLex wedding and all I got was this lousy husband.
