was this a good buy? e-reader

Hey Nesties. I wanted to share what I think is a good deal on an e-reader. Also hoping for some validation that it will serve my purpose for MH.

Kohls has the Pandigital Novel Ereader on sale for $175 (Reg price is $265 there). Then at register they will give you a $15 rebate form. I had to ask for mine but they have them. Additionally, if you have Kohls charge card, you can get 15%, 20% or 30% off due to scratch off or recent mailer. I had 30% from the mail so the the Nove E-reader was $107.50 after rebate and 30% but before tax. I think that is pretty good. I read some reviews on it. It is a little heavier than the others but has Wi-Fi and email capability and you can also add up to 32GB of memory, which i thought is nice. You can download from BN also. I am hoping MH can use it to download some of his college texts at a cheaper rate.

Do you think this will be possible? He does like to read for joy too but i am more thinkin about school text books.

I attached a link that compares the readers in case you want more info on it to see if it is worth it for you to buy. This one from Kohl's is #7.  but for $107 you can't beat it IMO. If anyone knows any other bargains for Ereaders please let me know as I am still researching the best one for our needs. his bday is 1 month so i can always return this one.

Re: was this a good buy? e-reader

  • Way to work the discounts!

I have a Kindle 2 (the K3 just came out recently) and really love the e-ink black and white format. I would prefer that over the eye strain that comes with the color reader, but that is obviously a personal preference.

The K3 starts at 139, so I think you got a good price.

I've seen some industry analysts predit that the Nook and K3 might be down to 100$ by the holidays. Since it is a b-day gift, this sounds like the way to go.

Post an update once he starts using it and tell us what you think. I'd like to buy reader for my mom and sister for Christmas, and I'm looking at all the new choices now.

    Hope is not a strategy.
  • I also have the Kindle 2 and I really like it.  I don't know anything about the one at Kohls (but I love that store and all the discounts).  I definately prefer the kindle over the nook.  If the one at Kohls can use books from barnes & noble then I think it would be a good option.  Although, for the extra $30 I would just get the Kindle.
