I'm finally entering the "Smartphone" stage since my 2-yr upgrade is finally here from Verizon.
I think I'm leaning towards a BB, but after reading some reviews I'm not so sure... The two that I'm able to get are either the Curve 8530 or the Bold 9650. Anybody have experience with these? I'm reading that their battery life is horrible (is this true?) and that the 8530 freezes up and quite a few people have had to get replacements.
Is this true in your experience?
Also, does anyone have the Motorolla Droid 2? I'm intrigued by this phone but I'm not sure about it. It felt cheap to me when I held it in the store. There's really not any reviews on this so I'd be going into it blind.
Any recommendations? Anybody have a Verizon phone that they love that I'd still be able to upgrade to?
Thanks!
Re: Blackberry or Droid Users
I have a BB Curve, mine is maybe 19 months old, I do not mind it, I wish the internet searching capabilities were quicker and I hate the track ball (just because I am on replacement #3). Otherwise I love it - I think I love the smart phone.
My brother was here for my wedding and has the Droid X and LOVES it. My brother is a hard to please phone guy, he had 2 different BB, the palm pre and hated them, but adores his Droid. I am going to get H a Droid X for his bday in a few weeks. Droid 2 has the slide keyboard feature where the Droid X has a touch screen - just depends on which you get. I would love to get a Droid - it is much quicker than my BB, more features, better camera, more aps, and the list goes on.
H and I have the BB Curve 8530. While mine has never had a problem, about 2 months after we got them his got SO hot he had to drop it. Like the phone itself was burning up. After it cooled down, it wouldn't turn back on and the battery wouldn't charge after that. He returned it and verizon would only give him a refurbished one. That ones done ok. Sometimes it freezes near the end of the battery life. We charge ours every night but my battery life will last at least 24 hours. It really depends on how much you use it throghout the day and what you do on it most. BBM seems to take up a lot of battery if I'm BBMing all day. The 8530 has the track pad instead of the track ball, which is WAY nicer! (My previous BB was a track ball- ick) It can be ultra sensitive on OperaMini though, if you download that browser.
My boss has the driod and she loves it! I know my H wants it SO badly. I may use my renew (I get to upgrade after a year) to get him one and wait until his is up (every 2 years) to get a new phone for me.
